From 2008 to 2021, the line graph shows the proportion of total sales for four different kinds of musical instruments in the UK: guitars, drums and percussion, trumpets, and pianos. Future sales patterns are also forecasted by the graph.

As a whole, there was a wide range in the instruments' sales patterns. The most variable item was the guitar, which began at 20% in 2008 and fell precipitously to about 10% in 2012. Following that, sales jumped to a high of almost 25% in 2016–17 before dropping to almost 15% in 2021. Beginning at 15% in 2008, drums and percussion gradually decreased and leveled down at about 8% starting in 2012, with minimal fluctuation.

Trumpets, which were always the worst, gradually improved. By 2021, they had risen gradually from 5% in 2008 to around 8%. Piano sales, on the other hand, increased steadily but moderately, from 5% in 2008 to around 12% in 2021.

In conclusion, sales of drums and percussion decreased generally, although sales of guitars varied greatly. The steady increase of trumpets and pianos throughout time suggests a change in customer tastes.

Band 6.5 IELTS Answer

The following chart shows the change in musical tool sales from 2008 to 2021 and projects future sales. Percentage is used to measure units. As anticipated, guitars remained the most popular instrument in the following years. Pianos received less attention than other instruments, although they remained in the low percentage range.

Examining the trend more closely, Guitars gained dominance in 2008 by about 16%, increased somewhat, peaked in 2017 at around 23%, and then steadily declined to finish at 11% in 2021.

The percentage of drums and percussion was somewhere around 12.5% in 2008, but it dropped rapidly to about 6% in 2010–11, after which it began to rise slightly to just below guitars.

Trumpets, on the other hand, were evoked as drums and percussion with 12.5%, but they steadily declined to reach the lowest point of the list in 2014–15 at 1%, then slowly climbed to reach 5% in 2020–21. In the United Kingdom, pianos received less attention and affection than other vehicles, falling from 9% to 4% in 2020–21.

In the beginning, trumpets were on par with drums and percussion, but during the next six years, they fell to almost 1 or 2 percent. However, it slowly increased over the following six years, reaching a final level of about 5 percent. Pianos were the least popular musical instrument; in 2008–09, less than 10% of individuals bought one, and this percentage declined during the year, reaching less than 5% in 2020–21.
