IIT Patna M.Tech Admission through GATE 2024: Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must ensure that they fulfill the detailed eligibility criteria listed below:

• B.E or B.Tech degree in any branch.
• Alternatively, M.Sc., AMIE, or another equivalent course
• A valid GATE Score
• Minimum 60% marks for General candidates and 55% for SC/ST categories in the final qualifying examination

It must be noted that candidates will need to produce documents regarding their marks in the final qualifying exam on or before October 31, 2024.

Eligibility Criteria for those who are yet to appear in the final qualifying exam:

• Candidates who are yet to appear in their final qualifying exam are eligible to apply for IIT M.Tech 2024 admission process.
• Such candidates must appear in all their degree exams and finish all procedures before the registration date for IIT M.Tech 2024.
• If these applicants are selected, they must procure all documents and provide them by October 31, 2024.
• In addition to all these conditions, they must also meet the criteria regarding minimum CGPA and GATE score.

IIT Patna M.Tech Admission through GATE 2024: Application Process

• First of all, candidates have to register at COAP Portal because all the IITs will post M.Tech admission offers on that website. 
• After that, you have to visit the website of the respective IIT for which you want to apply. 
• Fill the online application form before the due date by entering all the mandatory details. 
• The online application form fee for General and other category candidates is INR 300 and INR 150 respectively. 
• Submit the online application form and take a printout of the same for future reference.

There are various departments in IIT Patna and they offer several specialisations. Candidates must meet all the eligibility criteria for a particular programme. In addition to this, they must also clear the cut-off marks for the relevant course. Only then will the candidate be offered admission.

The total number of seats available varies depending on the category of the candidate and other factors like full time and sponsored candidates.

Regular (Full Time) seats are for students who are full-time students for their M.Tech degrees. Such candidates receive assistantships from the institute or fellowship from any other funding agency.

Sponsored (Full Time) seats are for those applicants who have been sponsored by a recognised organisation, institute or industry for the course of M.Tech. For this, the candidate must have been a regular employee of the company with minimum of two years’ experience. 

Such candidates must be involved in the discipline in which they seek admission. They will not be eligible for receiving any financial support from the institute.

IIT Patna M.Tech Admission through GATE 2024: Selection Procedure

Candidates will be shortlisted for the M.Tech program on the basis of their GATE 2024 score. Then, there will be an Interview round conducted for the final selection of the candidates.

The weightage given to GATE and Interview scores will be in the ratio of 70% to 30%. Candidates will have to report at the IIT Patna Campus for the Personal Interview (PI) round. In the PI round, the skills that the candidate will be assessed for will be Basic Science, Engineering, and other related areas.
