GATE score is the most important criterion for shortlisting candidates for admission to IIT Bhubaneswar’s M. Tech courses. 70% weightage will be given to GATE scores and the remaining 30% will be accounted for on the performance of the candidate in a written test and an interview round. The written test and interview will have an equal weightage of 15% each. To qualify for the interview round, unreserved category candidates must attain at least 40% of the maximum marks in the written test. To ensure his/her final selection, he/she must obtain 50% of the total marks in the final interview round. Criteria for the qualification of reserved category students will be followed as per the norms of IIT Bhubaneswar.
All such candidates who have served in an organization for at least 3 years can also apply for M. Tech in IIT Bhubaneswar under the ‘Sponsored candidate’ category. Those who have valid GATE scores will be shortlisted in the same manner as that for the regular candidates. However, those who have not appeared for GATE can also be considered for admission. In such cases, the candidate must have secured at least 65% marks or its equivalent in the academic examinations he/she has appeared for. When this criterion is fulfilled he/she has to appear for a written test and gradually for an interview. The written test will carry 70% weightage and that for the interview will be 30%.
To summarize, three things will be considered for the final selection of applicants,
Applicants who have been shortlisted based on their performance in GATE will have to appear for a written test. The written test will have a weightage of 15%. On qualifying in this round, candidates will be called for an interview round carrying a weightage of 15%.
The interview round will carry up to 30% weightage to decide on the final selection of the candidate. Candidates will have to carry the following documents at the time of the interview,
