Band 8 IELTS Letter
Mr. Allen,
I've reserved eight tables of 10 guests each in the Kitchen, a local restaurant that serves a range of French and Italian food, for Kylie's retirement party. Furthermore, we will be sitting upstairs in a large private space that is air-conditioned, spacious, and well-lit, with our own sound system.
This location is appropriate because it is on the same side of town as our offices, which means we will not be hindered by rush hour traffic when commuting there after work this Friday. Furthermore, there is plenty of parking for everyone attending, so supper will be served as soon as feasible, per your orders.
I bought a beautiful watch made from scrap metal from an old fighter jet as a retirement gift. As you are aware, Kylie served in the air force, so this gift takes into account his personal background while also adhering to the custom of a watch being presented to the retiree.
Regards
Marina
Band 7 IELTS Letter
To Mrs. Linda
I'm writing this letter to give you a report on the party you asked me to plan for Elizabeth Gomez's last day at work.
The party is meant to be held at The Blue Paradise, which is one of the most beautiful and large convention centers in our city. It is just across downtown from our office, which is only a few miles away. Our party can start between 3 and 5 p.m., but it shouldn't go past 11:30 p.m. We have also decided that the party will take place between May 5 and May 9.
There will be some tasty food and drinks at the party, for sure. I know what most of our coworkers like to eat, and they all like vegetable- and seafood-based European dishes. We could also have some ways to have fun, like "sing all you can," where everyone can sing their favorite song and talk about fun things that happened at work. Last but not least, we will give our coworker who is leaving some gifts.
That's all I can tell you right now. But if you think we should add something else or make some changes, feel free to say so.
With best wishes,
Joe Crowley
Band 6 IELTS Letter
Hello Steve!
I'm glad you asked me to plan Claire's going-away party. Since she joined our team five years ago, I've really liked working with her. We'll miss her.
I think the best day would be the 31st of this month, when she actually goes. Since it's Friday, I think everyone or almost everyone should be able to make it. Also, if anyone goes too far, they have the weekend to rest up.
I think we should have the party at 'The Lamb and Flag'. First of all, it's close by and everyone knows it because we often go there for a quick drink after work. Second, they have a small room for events on the second floor. I talked to the owner, and since we're regulars, he's happy to let us use it for a few hours for free.
I also asked the landlord about snacks, and he said that for a fair price, he could make a lot of sandwiches and some finger foods. I talked to Sheila and Mike, who are in a band, for some fun. They can sing a few songs for us, and then we can use a laptop and some speakers to play something in the background.
Let me know if you have any questions or ideas.
Best wishes,
Mark
