Topic: Youngsters these days prefer to have a boyfriend or girlfriend. Some people think that getting into a relationship at young age is not good idea. Do you agree or disagree?

Band 7 IELTS Essay

In the present world, most youngsters get themselves involved in a romantic relationship at a very young age. However, in my opinion, committing oneself to a serious relationship at a young age can lead to some serious consequences. The most important reason why young people should avoid getting into romantic relationships at a young age is it might affect their careers and ambitions. Romantic relationships might distract the individuals from their studies and might start taking life-changing decisions at a more emotional level. As a result, they might fail to achieve their goals. This will ultimately create problems in grabbing job opportunities in the future.

Successful relationships demand a great deal of compromise and adjustment for both parties. This might prove to be an ordeal for some individuals, leading to constant conflicts and fights in the relationship. As a result, such individuals might face difficulties in concentrating in their studies or jobs. This will, in turn, affect their career and growth in the future. For example, one of my close friends faced a similar situation during his graduation. He became so greatly affected by the constant fights in his relationship that he failed in his exams. In addition to mental exhaustion, romantic relationships also lead to unwanted pregnancy. This might lead to serious repercussions for both the individuals and their families. Since they might get ostracised by the society and face humiliation for their actions. Abortion might not only affect the health of the girl but also might lead to financial burden for the individuals. Thus, romantic relationships are a huge responsibility and one must get involved in them only when they are ready. They should understand that they are in a stable condition, both financially and mentally. If they do get involved in a romantic relationship, they must make sure to face all the difficulties and stress that come along with it.

Band 7.5 IELTS Essay

Romantic relationships are very common in the 21st century. However, some people oppose the idea of engaging oneself in a romantic relationship at an early age since it can have serious repercussions. I completely agree with this notion and my reasons for the same have been discussed in the following paragraphs. Romantic relationships demand huge investment, in terms of both energy and time. As a result, the youngsters fail to strike a balance between their work or studies and their relationships.

These are bound to create conflicts in their relations and cause mental stress among the individuals. As a result, their careers get affected. For example, in order to prevent conflict in his relationship, one of my close friends left his job and moved into his native place. He is now struggling to find employment there. If he had not left his previous job, he would have received a promotion by now.

In addition to mental exhaustion, romantic relationships can add up to the financial burden. Youngsters prefer to show off and give their boyfriends or girlfriends with expensive gifts. As a result, they can become spendthrift and fail to save money. Thus, the individual finds themselves in a situation of emotional distress, exhaustion and depression. Another major reason to avoid a romantic relationship at an early age is because of unwanted pregnancy. Youngsters in a romantic relationship do not think much before getting intimate, thus, resulting in unwanted pregnancies. This can add to the stress since premarital sex is considered a taboo in most societies. As a result, the families must face humiliation from the societies due to such actions. In cases where the girl decides to terminate the pregnancy, it can not only increase the financial burden but also affect the health of the girl. In conclusion, I believe that youngsters should completely understand the repercussions of involving themselves in a romantic relationship. They should enter one only when they are ready and are both financially and mentally stable.

Band 8 IELTS Essay

Nowadays, youngsters get involved in romantic relationships at an early age. In my opinion, however, such actions can prove to be detrimental for them in the future. My reasons for the same have been discussed in the following paragraphs. Successful relationships require a combination of compromise and adjustment for both the concerned parties. This requires a sense of maturity which the youngsters fail to possess. As a result, feelings of jealousy and trust issues might crop up which can, in turn, are bound to cause conflicts.

Sometimes, such conflicts can also lead to separation. In cases where the parties have decided to part ways, the individuals can face emotional trauma. This in turn, give rise to suicidal tendencies, emotional distress and negative thoughts.

Romantic relationships can also distract the youngsters and make them less ambitious. Such relationships often make individuals lose their focus in studies or job, thus, causing difficulties in their career. For example, if an individual is constantly stressed out about the relationship, he cannot concentrate on his work and thus, will not be able to perform well. In some cases, it might even lead to loss of employment. Youngsters involved in romantic relationships often become intimate without much thought. However, this might lead to unwanted pregnancies which can be harmful for both the individuals and the concerned families. Premarital sex is considered a taboo in most societies and such actions receive heavy criticism and humiliation from the society. Additionally, it can cause financial burden, in case of termination of the pregnancy. Abortion can also affect the health of the girl and might affect her future conception. In conclusion, it is important to understand that the individuals must start looking for a partner only when they are financially and mentally stable. They must also be ready to undertake the responsibilities that come with it.
