Band 6 IELTS Essay

Education is the basis of success in the sense of knowledge and money. It is the basic foundation to live a stable life and not only that but it also helps build the thinking of a person. It develops thoughts and creates a space for ideas and innovation. It can also help in building up the nation and what other way could be better than providing this education to the youth, the world’s future?

Our minds have a hunger for knowledge and the young minds, especially, have a lot of hunger and excitement for this knowledge. One can either satisfy this hunger with the knowledge of books and creativity or with the negative aspects of society. When young people go to universities to study, their minds are loaded with enough work and knowledge. This is to help them reach the full potential hidden inside their minds. It helps them acknowledge their inner potential. Apart from knowledge, a university education helps people to land better jobs. Any person who is looking to hire someone with a good salary first looks at the person’s educational background. If that educational background includes university education then their chances of being selected increase. A degree at the university level can help in uplifting the career of a person. It can help in landing jobs with better pay and that can automatically improve a person’s lifestyle. Big companies prefer to hire a person with a master’s degree, even a bachelor’s is a secondary option for them to hire someone and pay them well. The world is advancing and to get along with it, a person needs to have higher or university-level education.

The understanding of the world, that is, education, and the reality that this world lives by, that is, money, can both be achieved by a simple degree. A person with a graduation degree is respected by society as well. People from around the world compete through various exams to hold a graduation degree, this shows the utmost respect that a graduation degree can hold. The young society of this world is believed to be capable enough to hold this degree and advance the world with ideas, innovation, and knowledge.

Band 7 IELTS Essay

Education is the biggest gift one can ever receive. It not only develops the personality of a person but also uplifts their level in society with money and status. It is a blessing that one attains with hard work and effort. It is said to have the power to uplift the value of a nation too. But is it really important at a university level? I disagree with the statement that university education should be a must for young people.

Universities take away hours from a person. Many universities have too much extracurricular work that burdens the student with assignments and management of hours. Not every person is interested in getting involved in these activities. While these may be fun and creative to some, they can be time-consuming for others. If a person is spending 6-8 hours per day at universities instead of simply teaching involving such activities or assignments then it can be overloaded for the students. They can’t afford the education completely and have to earn through a part-time job to finance their education and living. People often believe that a university can be a space for innovative ideas and deep knowledge. But many billionaires like Mark Zuckerberg and Bill Gates have been college drop-outs, and the world is well-aware of their success. Arunachalam Muruganantham, also known as the ‘Padman of India’ did not even finish his studies at the school level. These people have been such great influences on the world. They have been movies made on their life stories to understand how they achieved success. There are many people like them who influence millions or billions of people to pursue what they want in life.

Not going to university can be a boon to the ones who can’t afford it. With India’s poverty rate or Africa, it is hard for people to put education at the university level before the requirements of food, shelter, and clothes. Education can be as expensive as a big stone of diamond to them and it can’t be helped unless they have the basic facilities of life.

Band 7 IELTS Essay

While there are tons of statements of agreement and disagreement on the benefits of education at the university level, I believe in everything having two perspectives. Hence, I’ll be discussing both. Education at the university level can be a boon or a curse to young but poor people. As valuable as a degree at the university level can be for people, it can also be expensive for many. Education at the university level can be life-changing for people, especially the ones who can’t afford much; it can help them build up their lives with job opportunities that only a university-level graduate can receive.

Universities can build up the personalities of people. It can develop a slight change or a whole transformation in a person. It allows the person to have a different perspective of life and opens the options to various paths for their careers. The well-paid salaries that a person can receive on the basis of their graduation from a university. They can build not only the life of the person pursuing the degree but also the lives of the people in his family. It grants pride to a person in a good sense. As full of perks as it might seem to have a university-level graduation degree, it also has downsides to it. There are tons of people starving on the roads of countries; they are suffering to fulfill their basic needs of food, water, or shelter. People die every day because of poverty in countries. So, how can these people afford an education at the university level? Although many countries have government policies for education, the people are not aware of them. The awareness can be found in high societies but to a beggar who doesn’t even know how to fill his belly at night. It can be difficult for him to afford this education. Another downside is that not every person who pursues education at the university level achieves greatness. Many criminals have done so as well.

But this factor doesn’t matter much because it depends on a person on what kind of society he wants to live in. To conclude, education at the university level can be great for young people but still a dream for the ones who can’t afford it.
