Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing this letter to officially submit my resignation. My wife and I are planning to move to Bangalore to look after my parents. They have become old and need to be taken care of. Hence I have given quite a thought about resigning from this job and taking it as my final decision.

As my job involves teamwork, I have learned team values and this is going to help me in my future professional life. I am mentally prepared to quit this job. Though the back of my mind I am upset as this company and my team members have become a huge part of my life. But now it’s time that I need to go back to my native place. I have applied for a few positions there and am waiting for an interview call. I request you to approve my resignation. Also, provide me with a letter of reference that will help me to get hired by a different company. This will not only help me get another job, it will also add value to my experience and professional skills. Also, it would be kind enough if you mention some of my good character traits in it.

Lastly, I hope you accept my resignation and wish me luck in my future.
