Writing, reading, and maths are the three major subjects IELTS writing task 2 cconsists of three sample answers provided below. The task requires the candidates to provide a tentative and argumentative answer for the question. The sample answers comprises two parts: Introduction and body. The introduction is a brief description about the topic. The body contains argumentative statements and tentative answers to  support the test-taker's perspective.

IELTS writing task 2 evaluates candidates based on the knowledge and views they have expressed. The areas that candidates are assessed on are grammar, vocabulary, and style. IELTS writing score is marked based on band scores. The band scores range from 0 to 9. Since the topics are very diverse, candidates must go through IELTS Writing practice papers to become familiar with a lot of topics.

Topic: Writing, reading, and maths are the three major subjects. Some think that computer skills should be added as a fourth subject. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this thought?

In the education sector, great progress has been made in every arena and subject. From science to literature every subject currently has a great scope in its domain. Though many subjects like psychology and sociology are still not much explored as compared with the other subjects yet their trend is exhibiting great progress. Besides this notion, many people still believe that writing, reading, and mathematics are traditionally three important subjects. They still believe that these are the primary subjects which should be explored more as they have great scope. I disagree with this notion. There are many reasons for not agreeing with this notion. Let’s have a glance at these reasons step by step. To begin with, with the advancement in technology and time, science and computer technology have made great progress and are still making progress. Seeing the present development it is likely that the future generation would be relying more on techno-savvy ways of living. Thus, computer and science are or would be counted along the same wavelength as Mathematics, reading, and writing. Moreover, learning computer skills opens a different range of scope for the younger generation to explore. With the fast pace of development, it is important to be abreast with the development in the world of technology. In addition, politics form an important part and parcel of our life. Living in democratic countries requires every individual to be a vigilant citizen. Thus, studying political science is also of great importance in our life. It is more important for the young generation to explore the arena of politics as they are the future torchbearers of our country, thus, they need to be aware of this domain. In conclusion, I would state that both computer science and politics should be included as the major subjects for the students.

With the improvement in the curriculum of the students, we are witnessing many new subjects making a space in the education domain. Though the education subjects have evolved for a long time from the traditional subjects to the modern syllabus, we still find people stating that Writing, Reading and Mathematics are the three recognized traditional subjects and students should focus more on these subjects as these subjects have immense scope from traditional times. I partially disagree with this concept. Though we are aware that these mentioned three subjects have great scope in the education sector, we cannot deny the importance of the evolving and striving subjects like computer science which are gaining importance in modern times. We all are surrounded by various technologies and in the present situation cannot imagine our lives without the technologies. These technologies are the byproduct of the development in the field of computer science. Moreover, the future generation is going to explore more in the domain of computer science. Thus, it is very important to equip ourselves with the knowledge of computers. In addition, according to me, another important subject that should be acknowledged is the subject of History. From ancient times, the world has witnessed numerous such events which are worth remembering. Reflecting on these events not only places ourselves in the shoes of those people who battled that particular event but also prevents us from committing the same mistakes that happened in the past. Moreover, history can serve as a tool of inspiration and stimulation. Pondering upon past events can even sometimes present us with the solution for the modern crisis. Thus, to put in a nutshell I would like to state that though Writing, Reading and mathematics forms the basis of our education with the present trends of development which we all are witnessing various other subjects should also be considered as holding the same importance as the three subjects mentioned.

With the great advancement in the education sector and growing scope of various subjects, the students need to explore the new evolved arena of subjects to keep themselves up with the developments. There are many varieties of subjects presented before the students to specialize in, but there are many people who still believe that from traditional times, the three subjects Writing, Reading and Mathematics form the core subjects. According to my understanding, there is another arena like the computer-related arena that should be explored more in modern times. To begin with, in modern times we can see that we all are relying more on technologies for carrying out our day-to-day activities. Whether it is for educational purposes or in the use of the technological development arena, we are surrounded by techno-savvy ways. For students it is more important to explore the arenas of computers. It is evident that the future generation is more likely to rely on technologies and computers. Moreover, mastering the skills of computers has immense future job prospects and reputable positions to work in. There are many sub-areas within the domain of computers like statics that are not easily mastered by an average person. It needs specialized knowledge and interest to study. Thus, according to me, computer-related skills should also be considered as important subjects as the other three subjects mentioned.
