Write a Letter To Your Friend About Missing The Date With Him On A Day Because You Have Planned IELTS General Writing Task 1 is a general task. Letter to your friend IELTS General Writing Task 1.The letter contains three model answers that have three paragraphs namely the introduction , body, and conclusion. The letter must be clear and to the point.

Topic: Write a letter to your friend about missing the date with him on a day because you have planned. Tell him how you tried to contact him but it did not work out either.

In your letter, you should tell:

What the reason is
How you tried to contact him
Give an alternative plan to meet him sometime.

Dear Addie,

I hope you are at your best place. Through this letter, I want to say to you that I am extremely sorry for not being able to spend time with you, despite the fact that I tried to contact you to tell the reason behind this but failed to reach you.

I want to explain to you why I was unable to go to the date that we planned earlier. My mother and sister met with an accident on that day. I was just ready to leave the home to come to you but suddenly, I received a call from a stranger who informed me that my mother and sister met with a serious accident. So, I had to rush to that site but when I reached the accident spot, I noticed that nothing major had happened to both of them. I took them to the hospital for a checkup where the doctor said that my sister needed to have bed rest for some time due to some minor injuries. When I took both of them to hospital, I tried to call you to inform them about the incident that day but was unable to reach them due to the poor network in my area.

I want to express my sincerest apology to you for the inconvenience caused by me. I hope you will understand my problem. I promise to meet you soon once my mother and sister come to their best place. We will discuss our next date as soon as possible.

Dear Mohit,

I hope you are doing well. Firstly, I want to say sorry that I missed our date that we had planned last week. I had tried to inform you regarding the situation I was stuck in at that time but failed to do so because of the poor network.

When I was getting ready for the date that we had planned, I received a call from my friend and he informed me that his sister met with an accident and broke her right leg. His parents were not available at home and he was so scared after watching her sister’s condition. So, I had to immediately rush to the accident spot and help him to take his sister to the hospital. She was taken to the emergency room due to other serious injuries in her internal body and the doctor had said to admit her to the hospital for the next 2 weeks. I was with my friend till her parents reached the hospital. When I came to the right state of mind, I tried to call you to inform you about the accident but failed to do so because of the poor network.

I apologize for my mistake and promise you that I will not miss our next plan whenever we make it. I hope you will understand my situation and will plan to meet you as soon as possible.

I apologize for my mistake that I missed the date that we planned last week and was unable to inform you regarding my unavailability. I am finally writing this letter to explain the situation that I was stuck in that night.

To be very honest, I was waiting for this night for a long time but when it came, I missed it due to the instant meeting planned by my boss with the international clients. My boss said that the meeting will be only for half an hour but as you also know that these quick meetings are never quick so it continued for the next 3 hours. I was not allowed to mute my camera in the meeting and was restricted to use the phone. Due to this, I was neither able to call you nor drop a single message regarding my unavailability. I later on tried to contact you by various means but failed to do so.

I know you are angry with me but I really wanted to meet you as I was the most excited person to come to this date. So, I am writing this letter to tell you that I am really feeling bad that you were upset due to me and now, I want to make it correct from my end. I am planning to meet you again. Kindly accept my apology and try to understand my situation. Hope to meet you soon.
