Band 7 IELTS Essay

These days, a growing number of workers find themselves putting in lengthy hours. This is mostly attributable to the changing nature of work in the twenty-first century, and it is unquestionably a negative change. Today's youth cannot expect to work a typical 9 to 5 job and get a good salary. In the past, a person could afford a car, a house, and a stable family life because most of their income came from a salary.

As technology advances and businesses grow more efficient, salaries today are lower when compared to living expenses, many decent positions have disappeared, and investing money now accounts for the majority of income. This shift means that in order to maintain the quality of life they remember from their childhood, the average worker must frequently work long hours or acquire a second job. Thus, it is not surprising that many people nowadays are unhappy with the way their work and personal lives are balanced.

Because it causes problems with mental health, this is often a bad development. The only time this is true is when someone has a genuine enthusiasm for their career, but nowadays not many people have the luxury of doing so. Most people are forced to settle for low-paying employment they do not enjoy. The development of a negative mental state can be brought on by working long hours, earning little money, and not being passionate about your job. Depending on the individual, this might emerge as anything from minor discontent and restlessness to more severe symptoms like depression and panic attacks. Today, a lot of people are turning to alcohol and drugs as self-medication or seeking help from therapists who are more than willing to provide mood-altering medications to treat symptoms resulting from widespread societal issues.

As a result of decreased average income, many people work too much today, which undermines mental health. In order to live a happy life on a limited budget, it is crucial for people nowadays to reduce their living expenses.

Band 6.5 IELTS Essay

People appear to be working longer hours at their jobs, according to recent statistics. The people in their immediate vicinity suffer as a result of this behaviour. Additionally, it has an effect on the affected person's families, as well as the neighbourhood. Therefore, it is necessary to put an end to this behaviour. I shall express my opinions on this in the prior essay, and I agree with the assertion. To begin with, those who spend more time than necessary at work risk harming their health. This is due to the limited time available for other pursuits, such as exercise, which is crucial for keeping one's fitness levels high.

The best example is my grandmother, who is 80 years old and maintains a consistent workout regimen while yet looking young and healthy. This excellent incentive will not be given to anyone who works long hours. A person's relationship with their loved ones is significantly impacted by working longer hours, according to the second point. It is said that "People who play together, stay together." The relationship could become strained and complicated if you give up the chance to live close to your family. As an illustration, consider a couple who struggles in their marriage and ultimately gets divorced because they didn't spend enough time together to form a solid bond. Limiting the amount of time spent at work will help to avoid potentially unpleasant situations.

Additionally, the importance of allowing people to interact with one another will not be understated in terms of the benefits it will have on the ecosystem. It will make people happy and foster fantastic relationships. It is harmful to a community when workers stay late at work because social gatherings and other communal activities will not grow. Finally, due to the numerous harmful effects they have on society, legislation forbidding extended office hours should be put into place.

Band 7 IELTS Essay

People have been observed spending the majority of their time at their place of employment in recent years. It is implied that it will have detrimental effects on them, their family, and the broader populace. This article rejects this idea due to financial factors and better employment opportunities. First off, it is true that if you put in more hours at work, you will earn more money, which is crucial for your family. Hourly pay is currently the norm for many occupations across many industries. Businesses also pay overtime rates, which may be double your usual compensation. For instance, I was able to buy a new car in three months as opposed to six by putting in more hours at work.

The majority of our time being spent at work may be advantageous for our professional growth, according to a different perspective. Because if we put in a few more hours, we could increase our knowledge of the subject that is connected to our primary job responsibilities, which will be advantageous to us not only at work but also in society. It is important for both an individual and an organisation to maintain work-life balance. Employees who take care of their work are typically promoted by corporations since they are valued for doing so. 70% of senior management representatives, according to a recent poll, put in additional work to move to the next stage in their professions.

Taking all of these factors into account, extended working hours have no negative consequences for the employees' families or society; instead, they provide an economic benefit and enable us to advance in our careers. Moreover, one must always consider taking a break from their work schedule. It enables them to explore more of the aspects associated with life and families.
