Women Will Play an Increasingly Important Role at Workplace In Future IELTS Writing Task 2 consists of three sample answers provided below. The task requires the candidates to provide a tentative and argumentative answer for the question. The sample answers comprises two parts: Introduction and body. The introduction is a brief description about the topic. The body contains argumentative statements and tentative answers to support the test-taker's perspective.
IELTS writing task 2 evaluates candidates based on the knowledge and views they have expressed. The areas that candidates are assessed on are grammar, vocabulary, and style. IELTS writing score is marked based on band scores. The band scores range from 0 to 9. Since the topics are very diverse, candidates must go through IELTS Writing practice papers to become familiar with a lot of topics.

Topic: Women will play an increasingly important role at workplace in future. But this may disturb their family lives. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Band 8 IELTS Essay

Workplaces today are becoming more employee-friendly. With flexible work hours and numerous perks, workplaces today are becoming more welcoming to employees as compared to the earlier days. Both men and women are favoured by such workplaces, especially women. There is no doubt that women play a crucial role in workplaces in today’s world. However some people believe that women are not able to balance their professional and personal lives. Somehow it disturbs their family lives.

I however do not concur with this. Gender equality is nowadays promoted with zeal which has opened doors for women to chase their dreams. The IT industry hires an almost equal number of women employees as men. With a formidable work culture women are climbing the work ladder at an escalating rate. During the pandemic all employees could work from home so that they can balance their family lives at the same time. I do not believe only men are responsible for taking care of the family financially. Both partners can equally participate in taking care of the family for it to work successfully. Women can be successful and men can take care of the family or vice versa, it all depends on how well the partners are coordinated. Women no longer have to take care of the family. They have an equal opportunity just as men to work, be self-reliant and simultaneously balance their family lives. If we compare the overall development and well-being of men versus women, men are clearly more well-off than women across the globe, however it is not true everywhere. Some of these countries include Netherlands, Canada, Sweden, Denmark, and Norway. These countries have narrowed the gender gap across health, education, employment, economy and politics. The government provides benefits to new mothers, including giving them maternity leave and an access to a maternity nurse. The cost of the latter is partly or fully covered by insurance. In fact paternity leave is also a policy being implemented across many countries and companies. Today, undoubtedly women are more educated, ambitious and more successful than men. Thus, the women workforce is gaining momentum in the workplace and will continue to do so in future. The ROI for this for the companies will also be higher. Therefore, I do not believe this disrupts their family lives at all.

Band 7.5 IELTS Essay

Women are making high strides and are passing men their abilities to handle families, get a degree or garner success at work. Women today are undoubtedly more successful, educated and ambitious. The percentage of women receiving degrees has increased over the years. Moreover, women today are becoming strong entrepreneurs. In the United States over 8.1 million women have their own businesses that are doing much better than the ones owned by men. Research has denoted that the reason why women are surpassing men is because they are more careful and avoid taking unnecessary risks or making rash decisions.

Thus, I believe that women in the future will play an important role in the workplace and it is highly unlikely that it might disrupt their family lives. Even after garnering tremendous success some people believe that women cannot balance both professional and personal lives. In addition, they must only focus on their personal or family lives. In a world where we are pledging to make it better by promoting gender equality in terms of education. Further, employment, health and other sectors, it is completely unorthodox to think this. Even today, around approximately 2 billion working age women are not afforded equal economic opportunity. They lack some form of job restriction and are not paid equal pay for equal work. This is unfair as successful women in the workplace are to benefit the companies as well. Thus, it is not justified to believe that a higher percentage of women in the workplace will disturb their family lives. Moreover, it is the complete opposite as women are more prudent and prone to be more successful. I believe that if both men and women show their active participation a balance between professional and personal/family lives can be achieved. Additionally, for an inclined growth of economy it is necessary to have more women in the workplace.

Band 6.5 IELTS Essay

Gender equality has been debated over for decades. There was a period when women were not allowed to study or pursue any of their dreams. Women were strictly given the role of managing their families and only let men earn money and provide for their families. Women were allowed to learn the household chores properly and lessons to be the ideal wife. Today the world has taken a turn for the better. Women are no longer belittled and are treated at par with men. In fact in some countries women are paid more as compared to men making them financially stronger. Due to this disparity in income some people believe that women that are independent disrupt their family lives. I do not concur with this.

I believe that women will play a fundamental role in the workplace in the future. Thus, there are numerous reasons why more women must be hired in the workplace. Firstly, even though men are believed to bring to a company’s success, women bring a whole new perspective to the plate. It is especially true when it comes to problem-solving. When a workplace requires a fresh point of view women in the workplace help to diversify the environment with bright new ideas and suggestions. Secondly, women often take a positive approach during any adversity. Undoubtedly, women have a higher capacity to handle stress and difficult problems. It directly entails that more women in the workplace will improve the response to workplace stress. Thirdly, women placed in leadership roles can change the trajectory of various teams and project outcomes. Women have the ability to nurture their every employee to become a better version of themselves. Last but not the least, gender-diverse teams in the workplace working towards a common goal can bring about much success. As women often excel in communicating effectively. It also increased the overall workplace compatibility. Owing to the numerous reasons, I believe hiring more women in the workplace can benefit both the company as well as the women employee. As there are single mom’s everywhere that are working to support their family. All-in-all it is best to have more women in the workforce, be it at a managerial position or being the CEO of the company. As it moves the company to achieve higher levels of success. Today, women at higher positions are able to manage both their personal as well as professional lives without any glitches. More often than not it is the men in their lives that are supporting them throughout the journey. Rather it's their husbands or fathers that nurture strong independent women. It is completely unjustified to blame women for being successful and correlating their success with disruption of their family lives.
