Where Did English Come From? IELTS Listening Answers is a monologue on English language. The speaker talks about different types of language and the origin of English. It also includes what languages English is linked with and its ancestors. The candidate needs to answer the following question types:

  • Use no more than two words
  • True, False, Not Given

In this type of questions, candidates are required to answer the question within two words. Answers should not exceed two words. In True, False, Not Given candidates need to identify if the statement is correct, incorrect or not included in the audio.

The IELTS Listening section tests a candidate’s listening ability. The candidates are required to listen to an audio and then answer the given IELTS listening questions.

Words with Latin origins came into English with an invasion of England happening in 1_________ . Thanks to this invasion and the new words a new language evolved known as 2___________ .

Other languages also added to language mix and it is possible to trace them thanks to 3________ . Which studies sound patterns and specific vocabulary. Studies in the area have shown that English , brother languages like 4________ and 5_________ , descend from Proto Germanic spoken centuries before Christ.
