Topic: Some companies allow their employees to work at home. What are the advantages and disadvantages for the individual and society?

Model Answer 1

Post the spread of COVID-19, one of the major adaptations that has been seen by mankind is the culture of work from home. In my opinion, there are a number of advantages that can be enjoyed by individuals when they work from home. One of the major advantages can be highlighted as an effective approach towards time management. This essay will aim at discussing both the sides of the arguments, i.e. the advantages and disadvantages of it.
One of the most essential and effective advantages of work from home can be highlighted as the cost cutting. Individuals can save a preferable amount of time and money by avoiding daily commute expenses. Individuals going to their workplace for their daily shifts requires them to invest a significant amount of time travelling. Further, money is also utilised on travelling from home to work. This time can be utilised by the employees to complete a task at their own place that will ensure productivity and financial enhancements. For instance, according to reports from Employee First Magazine, a new land project has been launched in Italy. This project aims to include commute time within working hours. Thus, it can be mentioned that work from home allows employees to spend time in an efficient manner. However, despite the fact that people can work more productively at home, workplaces provide opportunities for interpersonal relationships. This is because having close ties with coworkers can help people talk openly about their issues, which helps prevent sadness and even suicide. For instance, working from home can raise the risk of depression by 12%, according to a recent study from Colorado University. Thus, the social relationships of employees are constrained by freelancing.
In conclusion, I fully believe that working from home offers some advantages based on the instances and arguments presented above. For instance, it enables staff to save time. It also has certain disadvantages in that it lessens interpersonal interactions.

Model Answer 2

In today’s date, a number of individuals have adapted to working from home as a defined a culture in their life. People these days are avoiding going to their workplace. Work from home is easily accessible these days due to the availability of internet connectivity and devices. There are a number of advantages. However, at the same time there are some setbacks that individuals have to face.
Working from home has allowed individuals to spend more time with their family members. The culture of working from home has ensured that there is an appropriate work life balance. For the employees. This helps them to boost their productivity, ensures a balance with their work and emotional status. In addition, working from home manifests the approach where one believes that they have a potential control over their life. In other words, office workers frequently have to pretend to be working when they are actually just squandering time. At home, kids are responsible for choosing when and how to complete a given amount of work that has a deadline.
However, working from home can be isolating. A significant drawback is not having coworkers nearby to interact with and ask for assistance if you run into an issue that can't be resolved online. Furthermore, working in an office can foster a collaborative environment that is better for productivity and the success of the business. It is sometimes preferable to address problems face-to-face even when you have access to someone via email. This somehow leads to hampering the social life of those working from home. Because there is a lack of communication and friendly interactions with the outside world. Overall, it appears that being able to work from home can simplify life and provide employees greater autonomy. However, there are some tasks that are better completed in the presence of others.

Model Answer 3

By the end of 2020, most of the employees have become familiar with the work from home culture. However, there is a necessity to understand that this approach has both positive and negative impacts. In my opinion, I’m afraid of the negative consequences that it has on society in today’s world.
One of the major benefits that work from home puts forth is the approach to save money and time. Employees can carry out their duties from home, which will enhance their budget and give them more free time for their families. Rather than paying for buses or taxis and standing in line for public transportation. Another advantage is the safety and security of such labour in terms of contagious and pandemic diseases. For instance, the Corona spreads exponentially when two people come into contact. Working from home, however, results in social isolation and halts the spread of the virus, ultimately curing the viral illness. This tactic helped China combat the pandemic. The third benefit is that fewer people drive, which results in a reduction in vehicular carbon emissions. Hopefully, fewer private automobiles would ease traffic congestion. And enable emergency vehicles, such as ambulance and fire brigades, to quickly perform their humanitarian duties.
On the other hand, when employees are not under the supervision of their bosses, output declines. For instance, rather than making a profit, the majority of the enterprises in my nation experienced enormous losses, which ultimately reduced GDP. This was due to failure to complete tasks, delays in the delivery of goods, missed meetings. And—most importantly—employees who were preoccupied with household matters rather than their duties. Another drawback of working from home is the loss of internet connectivity. Particularly in rural areas, where load-shedding is the main issue, this occurs. As a result, certain crucial meeting calls or assignments couldn't be made, which frequently reflects poorly on a firm.
To conclude with, I would like to mention that there are a number of advantages and setbacks altogether. These impose major challenges on the lives of individuals in coordinating with their employees.
