Meaning: There are several reasons because of which air, water, and soil are getting heavily polluted. Chemical wastes, industrial wastes, plastics are some of the main reasons for pollution.

  1. Global Warming

Meaning: Recently world leaders, environment activists have been talking about global warming very frequently. The emission of greenhouse gases due to human activities causes global warming, because of which earth's temperature is increasing day by day and we have all witnessed and experienced it.
Sentence: 
A huge amount of ice is already melting in the poles of the earth. Because of which, the water level of the sea and rivers are increasing. This will obviously result in flooding.

  1. Overpopulation

Meaning: Increasing population is another cause of environmental problems.

Solutions to Environmental Problems 

Plastic usage should and must be reduced. This will certainly help solve a lot of environmental problems.

We should plant trees in bulk. And only planting is not enough. If they don't grow this will not be of help anyway. So, the original work begins after tree plantation. We should look after the planted trees and water them until they are fully grown. We should concentrate on conserving water and electricity. In order to conserve natural resources we should practice recycling things. This will surely help in reducing the usage of natural resources.

  1. Waste disposal

Meaning: A large amount of wastes is produced in industries as well as in homes on a daily basis. Now, disposal of these have become an issue of concern. Unplanned disposal of waste can pollute air, water and soil. Proper scientific disposal of waste is very important to tackle the problem of environmental pollution.
Sentence:
Industrial wastes dumped in the oceans pollute water.

  1. Wildlife conservation

Meaning: Wildlife conservation is the act of protecting plants, animals and their habitats.
Sentence: 
Wildlife conservation can be a key factor in tackling environmental problems.

  1. Wildlife reserve

Meaning: Wildlife reserves are some certain areas in which animals and plants are kept and protected.
Sentence:
The government is planning on adding another wildlife reserve to the state.

  1. Greenhouse effect

Meaning: The greenhouse effect helps in keeping the earth's surface warm. When the sun's energy reaches the earth's atmosphere some of it is reflected back to space, but some of it is absorbed by greenhouse gases present in earth's atmosphere. Which helps in keeping the earth's surface warm.
Sentence:
Because of the greenhouse effect, the earth's surface is warm enough to form life on it.

Meaning: The animals or plants which are on the verge of extinction are called endangered species.
Sentence:
Hunting is a prime cause of some animals becoming endangered species.

  1. Loss of habitat

Meaning: Decline in the land or places for animals to live or plants to grow is generally called as loss of habitat.
Sentence:
Because of deforestation many animals are at loss of habitats.

  1. Ozone layer depletion

Meaning: The chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) creates holes in the ozone layer. This is called the ozone layer depletion. The ozone layer protects us from ultraviolet radiation. We should know that CFC is present in fridges.
Sentence: 
Because of ozone layer depletion, ultraviolet rays are now able to severely harm and damage our skin.

  1. Acid rain

Meaning: When Sulfur Dioxide and Nitrogen Oxides are emitted to the atmosphere, they react with water, oxygen and chemicals to form sulfuric and nitric acids. These then mix with water and fall down as acid rain.
Sentence:
 Acid rain causes itching of skin.

  1. Biodiversity

Meaning:  Biodiversity means all the living things in one particular region. These living things include plants, animals, bacterias and humans.

All the living things in a particular area constitutes the biodiversity of that particular area.

Meaning: Air quality means the cleanliness of the air that we are surrounded by and breathe. Air quality is high when there is less precipitate present in the air.
