Band 6.5 IELTS Essay

Spelling checkers are widely used and tightly incorporated into the majority of devices. It is suggested that because of them, knowing how to spell is crucial because they have such a significant impact on one's literacy. As will be demonstrated in the essay that follows, this claim is wholly incorrect. There is no denying that spelling checkers are popular.

This is due to the fact that autocorrects are getting more and more accurate, making suggestions that are actually appropriate given the context. Additionally, since voice input might be directly converted into text, there is less of a requirement for people to double-check their spelling. However, because these apps may only be used with smart devices, which are not always available, all of these functions are only intended to be supplemental. Nevertheless, it is vital to our survival that we are able to spell. Starting with the fact that many tasks need handwriting, whose efficiency depends on accurate spelling, let's go over some of them. Various tasks, such as drafting essays or forms, as well as filling out police reports or medical notes, serve as excellent examples of this. Similar to reading, learning to recognise words and comprehend their meanings is necessary for learning to collect and comprehend information. For instance, reading specialized articles necessitates that readers have a certain level of terminology knowledge. Whereas hearing the news naturally necessitates the ability to tell apart words with similar sounds but different meanings. Last but not least, a thorough approach to literacy cannot separate spelling from other linguistic components like grammar and syntax. As a result of the aforementioned considerations, I am convinced that using proper spelling is still essential in everyday interactions. Spelling checkers are helpful, but they can only help us spell correctly temporarily rather than permanently.

Band 7 IELTS Essay

It is astonishing how quickly technology has advanced, particularly in the area of spelling checkers. It is believed that such a breakthrough has made knowing how to spell an easy process. Personally, I vehemently contest this conclusion. First and foremost, a number of real-life situations necessitate that you know how to spell.

In order to understand and distinguish words that may sound the same but have different spellings and implied meanings. People must be able to perform daily chores like reading newspapers and listening to the news. Similarly, it is only possible to carry out tasks like writing prescription notes or filling out paperwork if you have a proper command of word spelling. Furthermore, since grammar and syntax are both essential components of language acquisition, it is impossible to isolate spelling from either of the two. Because of this, learning activities and exams in most disciplines are all geared to promote and evaluate one's spelling proficiency to varying degrees. Undoubtedly, there is a lot of software available that helps with spelling. After considerable repetition, autocorrect, for instance, is now able to offer the same word recommendations. And many smart apps are capable of accurately turning audio files into text. The majority of smart devices and computer programmes that employ vocal input generally have them integrated for this basic reason. Software is merely a supplemental choice, despite its widespread use and ease of use. It's not always possible to access devices with capabilities that help with spelling. Furthermore, the software is less useful and applicable than one's actual expertise. Because the level of accuracy is still limited within a variety of usual settings. In conclusion, I am convinced that spelling will not be eliminated as a result of the rising penetration of software. Because technology can only serve to hasten the process. On the other hand, being able to spell is a useful skill that everyone may put to use for a variety of everyday needs.

Band 7.5 IELTS Essay

Nowadays, many people believe that spelling accuracy is not necessary for them because of the widespread use of technology in studying and working. I find fault with this assertion personally. First off, it stated that spell-checking software's dependability cannot be completely ensured. Although they use highly sophisticated technology, spell checkers are still just human-made software.

Thus occasional typos in the text, for instance, might slip through the cracks. Also, literacy is built on the skill of spelling. To be more specific, spelling correctly is a crucial part of improving writing and reading skills in the modern world. Because it is now necessary for everyone to be literate in both. Furthermore, typos can cause misunderstandings. In fact, written formats like books, newspapers, and letters have been used to present the majority of human perceptions. Therefore, it is crucial to formulate phrases correctly; otherwise, misunderstandings may occur. Finally, excessive reliance on spell-checking software may impair human spelling ability. He or she would be required to produce reports or papers, especially for kids. A bad spelling ability would consequently always have an impact on them and might even determine their future success in life. It's undeniable that adopting cutting-edge technological apps could help you detect and fix spelling errors much more quickly. However, I firmly believe that the ability to spell correctly is not only essential for most professions. But also for people to be able to communicate and take notes. In conclusion, the development of spelling software is viewed as a useful convenience for the current lifestyle. However, I firmly think that using technology cannot replace human intelligence. And that the importance of being able to spell words correctly should be appreciated. The idea that learning grammar and spelling is something that will never go away is backed up by a lot of data. The duty of proofreading is still one that must be carried out by individuals.
