The percentage of respondents who chose one of the following five options: "borrow or return books," "get knowledge," "study," etc. Additionally, when visiting libraries in 1991 and 2000, people were encouraged to "browse newspapers or periodicals" and "borrow or return DVDs." In 1991, there were four main reasons people utilised libraries, but in 2000, a fifth reason—borrowing and returning videos—was introduced. The most frequent use of a library is still to check out or return books, with studying there is the least popular activity. This comes off as ambiguous and unsure. It becomes clear when you examine the actual statistics and information.

In a second scenario from the year 2000, there were five different kinds of visits. Most books were checked out or returned (55% of the total) in 2000. Information-seeking interest grew by 20%.
