Band 8 IELTS Answer
The table above depicts the different 10 genres of independent movies which came to the theatres in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland in the year of 2012. The ticket selling revenues and relseased shares of these movies are measured in the form of percentage.
In the year as depicted as 2012, there were 148 movies which was released, basically of drama and documentary based movies. The movies of action genre and biopics doesn’t released on a large scale. Whereas, the prices of the romantic movies were comparatively lower than the other genres, and, Comedy ticket sales make up the majority of total earnings. Similar number of films having the genres of drama and documentary based came to theatres of about 35 numbers or more specifically 23.6% on a total basis. Out of those documentary based films, only 7 number of films were based on crime, near about 5%. More people watch a comedy than a thriller, both in terms of total viewers and average viewership. The only biopic that was released had a 0.7% market share, while 14 horror films had a 10% share. The statistics for crime and action are 7 and 4, with 4.7% and 2.7%, respectively. This is the highest percentage of any other revenue source, with the comedy genre accounting for 45.4% of all ticket sales revenue. The horror movie genre were chosen by only one among the five people. Also, the tickets of thriller and romantic genres barely sold out and genreated a very low sum of money or revenue shares. However, the crime and action based movies have the amount of 4% only, drama and biopics have the sum of 8.5%. A close to 3% of inbound traffic also comes from others and documentaries.

The table depicts the number of independent films that were released. And the proportion of ticket sales that were independent in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland in 2012.
Overall, it is evident that drama and documentaries accounted for the majority of independent cinema releases. However, comedy and horror movies made up the biggest percentages of revenue from ticket sales in the UK. The biggest number of releases—35 each in the drama and documentary genres—and the consecutively highest release percentage—23%—were in these two subgenres. However, comedy, horror, and thriller films accounted for the second-highest number of new releases. And percentages of those releases, with 26, 14, and 13 films, respectively, and 17%, 9%, and 8%. On the other hand, there were the fewest releases of biopics, crime action romance, and other genre pictures, as well as the smallest share of those films. The most popular and lucrative movies, on the other hand, were comedies, horror, and dramas. They made up 45%, 20%, and 8% of their revenue from ticket sales, respectively. The most intriguing aspect is that just one biography film in the genre was released, but it unexpectedly made the most money from ticket sales, at 9%. Romance and thriller films, which brought in 0.8% and 1.3% of the total, respectively, were the least profitable.

The information about independent movies of various genres that were released in the UK and the Republic of Ireland in 2012 is included in the table. Overall, the genres drama and documentary had the biggest number of releases with comparable numbers.
Despite the fact that each had a much lower percentage of revenue coming from ticket sales. The least number of biopics have ever been released. However, the percentage of money from ticket sales is largest for comedy and horror followed by biopic as compared to other genres. Both drama and documentaries had exactly the same number of releases, 35. And both had a similar share of total releases—23.6—of which they accounted for precisely the same amount. However, the percentage of revenue from ticket sales for the play and documentary was much lower, at 8.5% for the drama and 2.9% for the documentary. Though with a spectrum of 26 releases, humour came in second place in terms of the number of releases. In addition to this, the comedy genre produced the most revenue, 45.4%, of all the genres. Less than 10 movies in the biopic, action, romance, crime, and other genres were released. And together they only contributed 5.1% of the total amount of money made. The exception was made by biopic films, which bring in 9.1% of the total. There are about the same amount of releases in the horror and thriller genres, 14 and 13, respectively. However, the revenue from the thriller genre (1.3%) was significantly lower than the revenue from horror films (20.2%).
