Band 7 IELTS Letter

Respected Sir,

My name is Mithun Srivastav, a resident of Patel Colony, Ranchi. My family has been living here for over 25 years now. There is a local park in our area which goes by the name Udayan Park. It has been an attraction for many and a place to spend the leisure time.

I am writing this letter to address my concern regarding the news of the sale of Udayan Park by the local governing council. I have come to know that a shopping complex will be built at this location. This is to provide dedicated stalls to the street vendors capturing the footpaths in our locality and surrounding areas. This is perhaps a very good initiative of the local body and I really appreciate that they are thinking about street vendors. However, I have few concerns.

The Udayan Park has been an integral part of all community activities. Kids love playing around in the park and their parents spend their evenings chatting with each other. Even the elderly people enjoy their leisure time sitting at the park benches talking to their friends. Many people flood the park every morning to exercise, walk or jog to keep themselves healthy. Sports events, cultural events, and fairs are often organized at the venue. Once this park is turned into a shopping complex all these activities of the residents will halt.

I would request you to inform the governing council regarding this. It will be great if they can find an alternate location for the shopping complex construction. This letter is written so that my message reaches out to the common public as well as the higher authorities for their intervention into this matter.

Yours faithfully
Mithun Srivastav

Band 8 IELTS Letter

Dear Sir/Ma’am,

My name is Arpita Shukla, a resident of the D.C Colony, Ahmedabad. I am writing this letter to bring to your notice the recent news of the sale of the Swarna Park situated in our area. I have been a house-owner in the Colony for the past 17 years. I have few concerns that I would like to be addressed. I think this is the best way to reach out to the local governing body.

I have come to know that the land for Swarna Park will be sold off and a shopping mall will be made there. Street vendors will be given stalls so that they refrain from occupying pavements of the main roads. This is a great initiative taken by the local governing body. However, I am strictly against the sale of Swarna Park for the following purposes.

The central location of Swarna Park is of great advantage. People of all ages come to the park to spend their leisure time. They start their day exercising, walking, or jogging at the park. Occasional fairs and events are held every year at Swarna Park, which brings a large number of people from all over the city. The lush green landscape amidst the concrete jungle feels like a breath of fresh air.

I am immensely happy that the Council is addressing the issue of occupancy of pavements by vendors, but this should not be at the cost of the Swarna Park. I am sure there are other ways in which this problem can be solved. It is a request to the council and the higher authorities to consider this matter. It would be of great help if you could do the needful to bring this to the notice of your readers.

Yours faithfully
Arpita Shukla

Band 8.5 IELTS Letter

To The Editor,
News Today

I am Rakesh Verma, an inhabitant of the Ramji Colony, Nasik. For the last 15 years, I have been staying here. Recently, I have come to know about the prospective sale of the Raina Park located close to my house.

As per the official sources, the land will be acquired for the construction of a shopping complex. These shopping complex spaces will be given to the local street vendors who have illegally captured footpaths, thereby clearing the pavements. This is a very noble cause and a step taken towards the development by the local authorities. I am not against this but I am against the fact that the land of Raina park will be used.

Raina Park attracts thousands of people every day. From children to the elderly, all love visiting the park any time of the day. Moreover, it’s a famous location for organizing fairs, cultural programs, and shows. Its key location and accessibility make it a hotspot for community engagements. The beautiful luring landscape of the park makes it even more attractive. Moreover, children love visiting the park to play and spend time with their friends they meet there. The park is full of lush greenery and hundred year old trees. These trees serve as a helping hand to improve our environment.

I would like this issue to be brought to the notice of the higher authorities. I believe there are other ways in which the highlighted issue can be addressed. I would be obliged if you could publish an article regarding this matter in your daily.

Yours faithfully
Rakesh Verma
