Topic: The speeding of life in many areas such as travel and communication has negative effects on society at all levels: individual, national, and global. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Model Answer 1:

With the upcoming modernisation, nowadays, people can travel and communicate more efficiently as compared to the earlier times, due to the recent advancements in science and technology. Although some people believe that it has a detrimental influence on people, countries and on all societies worldwide, I believe that the advantages clearly outweigh the disadvantages of this cause.

One of the problems of such speeding up is that, it often proposes that individuals possessing a fast pace of life today can suffer from several psychological diseases, such as depression, anxiety, stress, etc. For example, people working in the corporate field are expected and supposed to reply to emails or telephones in a short span of time as compared to dealing snail mails in the past. This time pressure could result in causing tension, which would result in hurting psychological conditions in the long term. However, tension is not as much as people might think because advanced technology allows people to do things in a short time rather than having them work overtime, as was the case earlier. Besides, the other side to this speeding is that business people can also expect quick reply from others, which is conducive and beneficial to their own business, too.

Another important hazard associated with speeding at the national and international level, which is often being criticized is the environmental pollution that is caused. This refers to the use of airplanes and cars today (which help speed up travelling to a thousand times) which emits more CO2. This CO2 could destroy the Ozone layer and is responsible for the greenhouse effect. However, this assertion has some problems too. It should not be neglected that the development of visual conference on the internet, which is a result of speeding up in the communication area, has considerably reduced the number of international face to face meetings and get togethers, that means, less travelling.

But speeding up has some benefits too. To begin with, it improves the individuals’ efficiency and helps in increasing a country’s GDP. It is because people can do much more work in less time today, thus producing more revenues for businesses, and thereby enhancing a country’s economic power. Moreover, it helps to improve international exchange and communication. People can now easily get the latest information worldwide including those from faraway regions, which is beneficial for international understanding and awareness at a global level.

To conclude, according to me the speeding up of life in travel and communication areas brings more benefits than disadvantages to individuals, nations and international societies.

Model Answer 2:

The lives of all the people including myself who live in more developed parts of the globe are certainly faster and more modern than they were in the earlier stages. Many people in such situations complain about the negative effects of this modernisation. Whereas, I can see there are several negative effects, I think that these negative effects are minor when they are compared to the positive things the speeding up of life has offered.

Faster communications, one of the major boons offered, particularly those involving satellite communications and/or the Internet, enables us to get more things done, in our personal lives along with things in our working lives, than ever before provided, of course, that there are no technical problems with the technology we are using. This is one of the main reasons for increased trade and transport, both within national trades and international trades. Many people think that increased trade helps to reduce the risk of conflict and unemployment. Britain, Germany and France have fought many wars with each other in the past, but now such a scenario is almost unthinkable. Critics point out that increased trade doesn’t benefit everyone and that globalisation may result in the creation of a global monoculture which would be harmful.

Faster transport systems have also helped to develop trade, meeting, interactions, and tourism globally. Again, there are negative impacts of this globalisation. More travel means increased pollution caused by different modes of transport such as road vehicles, trains, shipping and aircraft. However, the benefits of this are enormous. Tourism has brought wealth to many individuals, countries, and areas and allows individuals to see more of the world and get familiar. Faster transport means that we can enjoy the products, especially agricultural products, of several countries that are far away.

In conclusion, the speeding up of life has had some negative effects on the individual, national and international levels, but these are small when compared to positive influences that are made.

Model Answer 3:

Today is a modern word filled with advanced analytics and modern technology. Thus, the modernisation and speeding has resulted in the acceleration of lives immensely. This phenomenon posses’ detrimental effects and beneficial effects too.

To begin with, with respect to the positive impacts of travel and communication at individual level. First and foremost, it overcomes and crosses the geographical barriers faced by every individual and has become a mere cakewalk for everyone to connect with their near and dear ones. In other words, nowadays, it is easy to communicate with friends, family and relatives while sitting far away from them with the help of video and voice calls on mobile phones or laptops. For example, in the past, if we had to send a message to our relative, we had to write a letter and approximately after 6 to 7 days they would be delivered to them, whereas due to the advancement in technology, it is convenient and easy to talk with anyone now and within a short span of time. Moving to the national level and how it has been impacted, it provides a platform to every nation to start its business. To be justified, every country has increased its production of everything to increase trade. Moreover, it boosts the economy and money circulation of a country, since import and export is one of the crucial sectors that affect the economy of a country. Similarly, different means of travelling and communication open avenues for a sustainable economy.

Furthermore, there are several impacts on international levels too. It has become feasible to combat the pandemic, social levels and international levels. To elaborate, each country shares their techniques and advances with each other, which mostly helps the developing countries because underdeveloped countries do not have the latest techniques due to the lack of technology. To be exemplified, nowadays, during the period of COVID-19, nations are sharing their techniques, advances, drugs, and corona vaccine to refrain from this virus. As a result, the planet can be refrained from untoward consequences and mishaps.

Thus, according to me this speeding and modernisation has been a boon, and not a bane.
