The bar graph displays the proportion of people in the UK in 2009, broken down by age and gender, who did not hold a degree. Males made up more of the population overall when they were younger than females, although this trend was reserved for older age groups. It is also noteworthy that the proportion was the same for the 25-29 and 30-39 age groups.
Male representation was marginally higher than female representation in both age groups of 17–19 and 20–24. To be accurate, the male figure was roughly 7 to 8%, while the female figure was just roughly 6 to 7%. Surprisingly, these percentages—8%—were the same for the age groups of 25–29 and 30-39. On the other hand, the percentage of people without a qualification significantly climbed after the age of 39. The percentage of men in this age group was lower than that of women, at 10% and 11%, respectively, showing a guarded tendency. The overall number and gender disparity were significantly greater in the last group, which includes those who are over 50. That is to say, the proportion of women climbed to 20%, which is nearly 3% greater than the proportion of men at the same age.

Men were more likely than women to be unqualified in the 17–19 and 20–24 age brackets, with 7% and 8% respectively for men and 6% and 7% for women. In the age ranges of 25-29 and 30-39, the percentage of men who lack the requirements has remained consistent. The number of women in middle-aged groups without a degree, however, was the same as that of men in the same age range. In terms of the 40-49 age range, a greater percentage of women than men—roughly 11% against 10%—lacked any qualifications. Exactly 20% of women and 17% of males in this age group did not have any formal education, and these numbers were higher in the 50-59/64 age range. In general, those without education are more likely to be between the ages of 50 and 59 or 64. While those between the ages of 17 and 19 make up the smallest percentage.
