Band 6.5 IELTS Answer
The maps provided show the proposed development plans for the center of a small town called Berkshire. It is clear from the comparison between the current state of the town and the proposed changes that the town will undergo a significant transformation once the construction is completed.
According to the first map, it can be seen that all farms in Berkshire will be removed in the future. The Griffiths Farm, located in the top right corner of the map, will be replaced by a supermarket. The Hoolahan farm, situated on the right side of McGoldrick road, will be replaced by a car lot. Additionally, the Farmer’s Market located on the bottom left corner of the map will no longer exist in the future.
In addition to these changes, there will also be a roundabout constructed at the junction between McGoldrick road and another street. The Corbin road will be extended beyond that street. A sports center will be built on the bottom right of the map. It is also notable that while a shop on the bottom left will be removed to make way for new houses, the existing houses and public park will remain unaffected.
It means that the town will lose its agricultural heritage as all farms will be removed. The construction of a roundabout and the extension of Corbin road suggest that the town will see an increase in traffic and a change in the flow of traffic within the town. The addition of a sports center highlights the need for recreational spaces within the town.
