In England and Wales in the year 2000, there were almost 20 million cars and trucks. In the next 10 years, this number went up a little to 35 million, and from there it grew at a very fast rate, reaching about 60 million by the year 2020.

The column line shows the four main ways that CO2 gets into the air. The most CO2 came from cars, which went from about 2.3 tonnes in 2000 to 3 tonnes in 2020. Trucks went through the same process and made the same predictions as cars, but the total amount is less, going from 0.6 tonnes in 2000 to 1.3 tonnes in 2020.
