Topic: The internet is a great source of information and has opened up opportunities for people to learn all over the world. Is all information reliable on the internet? What could be done to control information online?

Band 7 IELTS Essay

The internet has made it possible to find countless sources of knowledge on a variety of subjects. Nowadays, everyone can choose to practise and study a specific talent until they are proficient in it. The veracity and accuracy of the material are never completely certain, though. This paragraph will continue to explain this topic in more detail. Imagine living in a society where education is so commonplace that students can acquire degrees while attending lectures at their convenience.

Imagine a situation where a student might learn at his convenience from a variety of colleges, organisations, or sources at the same time. Fast forward to 2021, and the Internet has transformed education and information sharing as we know it, making the second concept a reality. Individuals can access courses from the best institutions in the globe with just one click or learn something new from reputable sites. On the internet, there are many fraudulent and phishing activities occurring. As a result, it's important to be careful of phishing and dishonest professionals who seem to be from reputable organisations. The Internet's fundamental downside of anonymity is used by some people to disseminate misleading information. It is a recipe for disaster to assume that anything you read online has any real significance. Because of this, the user is the jury's judge and must exercise caution while deciding what is true and what is false. One method to accomplish this is to confirm the accuracy of the information by consulting many sources. Another choice is to enforce stricter cyber laws and defend user rights while policing the Internet to stop scammers in their tracks. The Internet is a wonderful invention that has improved access to knowledge, impacted traditional aspects of life, and brought people from all over the world closer together. A few people are misusing this resource and making it unpleasant for everyone else. This does not, however, change the fact that the Internet remains to be a vast repository of knowledge on just about every topic imaginable.

Band 7.5 IELTS Essay

True, the internet plays a vital part in individuals getting knowledge and being acquainted with information from all over the world. While the internet can be unstable at times, I believe that individuals can take steps to mitigate these issues. The first reason the internet could be untrustworthy is that it has access to personal information. People should disclose all of their personal information when creating accounts on computers or mobile phones, which will be preserved in the archives.

Hackers have the ability to get access to systems in order to steal data from bank accounts and credit cards. For example, in 2018, the amount of money lost by businesses as a result of internet crimes totalled about 2.8 billion dollars. The second reason for the internet's unreliability is that users might be duped by opening email attachments. Some cyber thieves use email attachments to distribute computer viruses that may be installed without the user's awareness. In terms of countermeasures, I believe that changing account passwords on a regular basis and installing antivirus software are the two most effective options. In terms of the former, changing the passwords on one's own accounts ensures protection. This prevents the spread of personal information by making it difficult for hackers to get access to the system. Moving on to the latter, some computer programmes may safeguard the entire system by preventing viruses from spreading. Microsoft, for example, has released the programme 'Microsoft Scanner,' which protects systems from cyber-attacks. Finally, for individuals all around the world, the internet has become a vital source of instruction. It does, however, cause certain issues owing to its unreliability, which may be mitigated by changing private data passwords and utilising antivirus software.

Band 6 IELTS Essay

Our lives have altered dramatically since the internet was introduced. Humans had been searching for millennia for a vast amount of data, and it had now become available. This article will first evaluate if all information in the network is safe. In addition, it will explore what activities should be taken to keep track of the clues online.

There are several reasons to consider the material offered by the internet to be risky nowadays. To begin with, the sources on social media are primarily open, allowing anybody to see and read whatever they want. As a result, there are many individuals who are naïve enough to trust such sources. Some elderly individuals, for example, are accustomed to trusting such information since it appears to them to be interesting and worthwhile. Secondly, many individuals post whatever they want on social media accounts without conducting any study. This results in widespread misinformation. There are now a number of measures that can be done to control the dependability of internet-based content. By imposing certain limits, the Ministry of Technologies and Information can play a critical role in information security. They can, for example, go through every material before it is published. Individuals and editorial offices that post false or inaccurate information should face severe consequences. Furthermore, certain social media platforms enable people to block objectionable content. For example, if someone provides false information, users have the right to report it to the support service and have the page banned. To sum up, the Internet has changed the lives of individuals and it remains the main source of information, among which we can find a lot of false data. In my view, human beings eventually have to decide whether to trust it or not.
