Band 7 IELTS essay
The bar chart given above discusses the proportion of people immigrating to Australia from five different countries in three years: 1962, 1982 and 2002. It is noticed that the immigrant rates from New Zealand and Italy decreased, and those of the UK, Vietnam, and India rose in the first half, and later on, it experienced a downfall in the second half, with Vietnam undergoing the most significant fluctuation.
In 1962, Italians were the first among all the other countries, around 40% of the immigrants to Australia. These rates for the remaining countries were less, with just 10% for both the UK and Vietnam, approximately 8% for New Zealand, and less than 3% for India.
These rankings were changed over the next 20 years. Now, the Vietnamese became the highest group of immigrants, experiencing a nearly threefold leap to 25%. The immigration rates for Italians halved to about 20%. The rate was higher for the UK and India, adding up to 17% and 15% respectively.
In 2002, it can be seen that immigration rate was evenly distributed. The rates of four countries (the UK, India, Vietnam, and Italy) moved to a range of 12-15%, as opposed to a negligible 5% for New Zealand.
Band 7.5 IELTS essay
The graph shown above discusses the percentage of the immigrants from the five different countries to Australia in the given period of time.
Comparing the data of the UK in the three different years, we observed that the percentage of the immigrants increased and then the graph decreased when we reached 2002. In 1962, only 10% of the immigrants moved from the UK to Australia and this percentage increased to approximately 17% in 1982 and then slowly decreased to 12% till the end of 2002. Similarly, comparing the data of Italy, we studied that the percentage of immigration rate decreased gradually from 40% in 1962 to 20% in 1982 and then again showed a downfall to 15% till the end of the year 2002.
Sudden increase was initially observed in the case of India 2% in 1962 to 15% in 1982. Again this percentage decreased a little bit to 14% in the year 2002. New Zealand has only gone to the downfall in the coming years. They were not able to increase their immigration rate. The fluctuation was also seen in the graph of Vietnam.
So, we concluded that the Indians and Italians showed the most changes over a period of time.
