The diagram given above shows how the solar panels can be used to provide electricity for domestic use. It shows that there are five stages of production of electricity from the solar panel.

The production of electricity starts from the solar panel. The solar panels will absorb the energy from the sun and convert this energy in the DC current. Now, this DC current will move to the inverter where it will be converted into AC current and control the electricity and its production. The inverter is connected to an electrical panel which will distribute the electricity to your home.

When the electricity will be sent to the home, the excess solar electricity will flow back to the grid through the meter and this meter is known as Utility Meter. The utility grid will provide the electricity for domestic use when the large amount of electricity is produced from the solar panel.

The given diagram shows the five stages of electricity production from the solar panels. These stages include: Solar Panels, Inverter, Electric Panel, Utility Meter, and Utility Grid. The electricity produced will be sent to the homes for domestic use.

The symbol 1 in the figure shows the solar panel present at the top of the house. These solar panels will absorb energy from the sun and turn it into the DC current. As the electricity used in the home is in the form of AC current. To convert the DC current to AC current, the inverter unit is attached as shown by the symbol 2. This unit will also control the electricity and its production. The inverter is directly attached to the electricity panel that is represented by the symbol 3. The electricity panel will distribute the electricity to the home.

In some cases, the excess amount of electricity is produced by the solar panels and this excess electricity will be back to the utility grid by the utility meter. This energy can be used later on for domestic use. Therefore, we concluded that the utility meter (as shown by symbol) will flow back the excess electricity and the utility grid will provide electricity when you exceed the amount produced by your solar panels.

A utility meter preset at a home is responsible to back flow the excess electric current to the utility grid that is present outside the home. If someday, the solar power does not provide enough electricity, then the electricity will flow back from utility grids back to the home for domestic use.
