Band 8.5 IELTS Answer
The chart below shows how many men and women of various ages and genders experience heart attacks in the United States. In all age groups, the chart shows that males have a higher risk of having a heart attack than females do.
It is obvious that the young age group, which includes people between the ages of 29 and 44, has the lowest annual heart attack rate in the United States. However, the striking part is the difference between men and women of this group. 123 thousand of men between age 29-44 have a risk of heart attack while on;ly three thousand of women in the same age group have the risk. We can clearly see that people after the age of 45 experience more heart attacks. It is significantly more common in the middle age group, which includes people between the ages of 45 and 64. Each year, 424 thousand men suffer from heart attacks on average. On the other hand, women in the same age group suffer from 136 thousand heart attacks annually in the United States.
Heart attacks are most common in those over the age of 65. Male heart attacks average 440 per year, while female heart attacks average 374 per year. This age group, in contrast to the other age groups, mostly closes the gender gap.
In conclusion, people are more likely to have a heart attack as they get older, but men are more likely to have one when they are young than women are.
Band 7.5 IELTS Answer
The details of cardiac arrests that occur annually in the United States are depicted in the bar chart in thousands. All males and females of varying ages are divided into three categories: 29-44, 45-64, and 65 and older.
At the first look, we can see that men of all ages suffer heart attacks at a higher rate than women do in the United States. Seniors in their mid-sixties are the most vulnerable, while adults until their mid-forties, particularly women, are at the lowest risk.
Evidently, the bar graph shows that 440 thousand men have a heart attack when they are 65 or older, while 374 thousand women in the same age group have a heart attack. Now, in the age group 45-64, we do not see much difference in men. While only 136 thousand women are experiencing this problem, a significant number of men, with 424 thousand, are almost equally at risk as those aged 65 and up.
Last but not least, the third case involves individuals between the ages of 29 and 44. People in this age group are less likely to contract the disease. Females, on average, have fewer cases than males, with only 3000, whereas males have 123 thousand.
