I strongly disagree with this perception. The view of this method might be to help students, but this can have a negative impact on them. The main purpose of this exercise is to engage the minds of students’ in other activities they can excel at. And make them feel joyous about it. But this can also lead to extension of their hours at school which a lot of students might not appreciate. They could feel a pressure building up their heads for this case.

Also, sometimes, the reasons for students to not achieve good could be because of their family issues. Like divorce of the parents, and they might feel under pressure because of it or, it could be because of some other internal conflicts. Bullying is also very popular amongst students and happens a lot at schools. So, adding more hours to the pressure wouldn’t be the best idea. These are times where students feel most of the pressure and go through several mental breakdowns. Hence, they need the most help with their mental health issues.

Although an increase in the hours through school activities might not be the best idea. There are certain ideas that can definitely help the students to get better scores. These students could use help to fight through their internal conflicts and to gain the required scores. They would rather use some good counseling for their issues. As well as for their under-achievements or low grades in their classes than spend tons of hours on activities that could be boring to them. The parents can help them by adding their efforts and investing time in understanding the needs of their children. The teachers could do the same. They can also use the help of home-tutors. Every child is special; they only need help to understand their potential first.

The importance of extracurricular activities and extra classes has well-known positive effects on students’ performances. With the increase in under-achieving students these days, there’s a need for a solution. There are tons of students who need a push to study effectively. Extra hours of studying can provide them with that push. In agreement of underachieving pupils having compulsory after school activities, I believe they additionally need these classes to attain their lost focus.Students are now more focused on the ‘hyper-reality’ of education as something that is taken for granted. It is very important for them to be reminded that the real world needs hard work and true efforts.

With the addition of extra hours, the students can enhance their abilities of grasping knowledge about certain topics that they could be lacking at. This can also help them in the understanding of their weaknesses and hence, can help them to improvise the same. Furthermore, this can help them to get adapted in an educational environment which can create concentration abilities in the ones who have lost it. There are certain times when a student feels peer pressure and hesitates to ask his doubts about questions in the class. These extra classes can provide them with the close and separate space that they could need to overcome that hesitation. This could be beneficial for their communication skills as well. Surveys conducted have proved the fact. Students who spend their free-time for after school classes tend to improve faster than the others and have a higher success rate as well.

There could be more ways that the students can learn while these lessons are being conducted. Counseling, one teacher per student and several other methods can also add additional benefits to this method. One method alone can be sometimes exhausting for the students as well as for the teachers. Hence, there should be multiple methods being applied to support the teachers and students.

A class always has potential students who are being categorized as underachievers because they are unknown to their flair. They need to recognize their own talents and the best way to do so would be an environment full of students who are all trying to do the same. A space where students can learn and revise their topics can be very useful to them. This can help their minds develop the photographic memories of revised lessons. Practice makes a man perfect. So, the more that they study, the more they will end up learning. This can surely help the students with potentials inside of them to enlighten their possibilities of a studious future.

Like any method having its merits and demerits, this method also manifests negative points. Every child does not have the capacity to understand and reflect everything they learn. This method cannot add any extra intellect to any child. This might also lead them to believe that they are not capable of anything. The students who are not achieving enough might end up believing that they can never be better than their classmates. This can make them have low self-esteem and might add to their pressure which could, in fact, lower their grades. It could also be de-motivating for the students to watch their classmates leave the school earlier than them. While they would be waiting for their day to get over. This method could be very tiring and exhausting for the students. Not all the students have the capacity to work for continuous hours and not feel tired with it. The reason behind them not functioning properly in class could be personal reasons as well.

The simple solution could also be tutors for every student and not only the under-achieving ones. So that they don’t feel neglected and every student gets the chance to score better. Also, guidance classes can help these students reach further heights than they could even imagine.
