Band 8 IELTS Essay
The biggest cause for poor education quality among children nowadays is that they spend a lot of time watching television. They engage themselves by doing things that have nothing to do with quality education. I wholeheartedly concur that television cannot take the place of a book as a teaching tool. This is because it is both less educational and more seductive.
For starters, television cannot replace books as a learning medium since children frequently misuse television when their parents are absent. For instance, kids find educational shows less appealing than the cartoons and other shows they like to watch. Even if there are many appropriate and educational shows, it is common for kids to favour shows that are more entertaining than educational. Another reason television isn't as good as a book is that when children learn through television, their attention is drawn. It is drawn to the audio-visual presentation rather than the learning. In contrast, if kids adhere to books, they concentrate on the books and the lessons they contain. Many parents complain that their children spend too much time watching TV, which is bad for their health. As a result of their addiction to watching TV shows, many kids find it difficult to focus on other crucial tasks like studying or playing outside. The last point is that since television could be a time-wasting instrument, it cannot take the place of a book as a learning tool. However, there is no possibility of time loss if kids spend more time reading books. Television's main goal is to amuse viewers, but books are thought of as the foundation of knowledge and wisdom. To summarise, while television is more fun than books, it cannot be as effective as books as an educational tool for children.
Band 7 IELTS Essay
Children today spend less time reading books and more time interacting with technology like television, smartphones, and other visual aids. This is what some people believe to be the main reason why young people are becoming less and less morally upright and educated. In the following paragraphs, I will explore the advantages and disadvantages of both technology and books, and I will somewhat agree with this statement. People are tempted to utilise more exciting products with information and amusement at the same time these days as a result of technological advancements. Computers and television are two examples. Schools have started using smart courses in response to the demands of the time. Children thus develop a habit of using this audiovisual technology. A person can easily obtain information on science, technology, and political activities through television today. This is also the most affordable educational medium. The Discovery Kids channel, History TV 18, and other specialised networks are also available for children. The traditional method of instruction, on the other hand, has a lot to offer students in the form of books. From the very beginning, one has a tendency to read books since they are full of moral tales that are relevant to everyone's daily life. Additionally, reading books helps children acquire a habit of deep breathing, which is vital for their overall growth. Reading books is another way to improve attention. Despite the fact that books are an endless supply of knowledge, one should not be concerned about any sort of technical issues. The importance of both books and technology cannot be denied, and as a student of literature, I won't. In contrast to television, books seem to impart moral principles and social skills more effectively. However, television provides me with knowledge about the entire globe, whereas I personally feel a connection to the books.
Band 7.5 IELTS Essay
Children today spend a lot of time watching television, which is the main reason why their education is of poor quality. They keep themselves active by engaging in activities unrelated to high-quality schooling. I completely agree that a book is still the best teaching tool, not television. This is due to the fact that it is both less instructive and more seductive.
For starters, since kids frequently abuse television when their parents are away, it cannot take the place of books as a learning tool. For instance, youngsters choose cartoons and other things they enjoy watching more than instructive programming. Even though there are many shows that are age-appropriate and instructive, it is typical for kids to prefer shows that are more entertaining than instructive. Another reason television isn't as good as a book is because when youngsters learn through television, their attention is diverted. Instead of focusing on the lesson, it is directed to the audio-visual presentation. Kids who stick with reading, however, focus on the books and the teachings they offer. A common complaint from parents is that their kids watch too much TV, which is terrible for their health. Many adolescents struggle to concentrate on other important chores like studying or playing outside because of their addiction to watching TV programming. The final issue is that, because television may be a time waster, it cannot replace a book as a learning tool. Although, if kids spend more time reading books, there is no chance of time being lost. The primary objective of television is to entertain viewers, but books are regarded as the foundation of knowledge and wisdom. In conclusion, even if television is more entertaining than books, it is not as successful as books as a teaching tool for kids.
