Topic: The subjects that children are taught in schools are decided by central authorities. Some people say that teachers, not politicians, should be responsible for this. To what extend do you agree or disagree with the opinion.

Band 8 IELTS Essay

The education system is gradually becoming a huge concern in recent society. There are some people who argue the facts that the teacher must be liable for creating the curriculum. On the other hand, few people believe it is better if the central authorities took the responsibility of deciding the subject taught to the children. I feel that the decision regarding selecting the subjects of schools should be handled by the central authorities.

Firstly, I believe that government know more about the financial requirements of the people and about society. This is because they have undergone research and have witnessed lots of things about the distinct fields of society. This enables them to gain more knowledge about the community and people.

Secondly, I feel that the government can ensure that the circullum would enhance the practical knowledge and talents of the students. This will enable the students to achieve a good career after completing their bachelor's course.

Thirdly, I believe that it is the job of the teacher to give the student proper teaching about the subjects. They should not take part in selecting the subject. Their role is to develop methodology and deliver the knowledge effectively so that the students could prosper in their lives. I feel that the primary attention of the teacher must be on evaluating the student’s learning efficiency and the way the student would apprehend the subject. This would help the students to apply their knowledge in their careers which in turn will increase their chances of pursuing a better job.

Lastly, all the educational expenditures, salary and training programs scheduled for the teachers are decided by the authority. Hence I believe, the teacher should focus only on the upliftment of the students but not on the syllabus. The teacher must follow the regulations cited by the central authority.

Summing up, both the central authority and the teacher have effective roles in developing the lives of the students. It would be highly profitable if the curriculum of the school is decided by the central authority rather than the teacher.

Band 7 IELTS Essay

The central authority of education design curriculum for school students of different grades. I am against the view that 'teachers should design the curriculum'. There are multiple reasons why teachers should be kept aside from designing the curriculum.

To start with, I feel that since the curriculum for the entire nation is similar throughout. Thus, the central authority would be able to comprehensively design the curriculum. The teachers won't be able to examine appropriate curricula for the entire nation. The central authority will function effectively, as they will easily tackle diversity and try to strengthen the curriculum by adding all the relevant factors.

Secondly, the objectives of teaching skills are similar for every standard. Further, the central authority is aware of these objectives, so it should be designed by the central system. Sometimes, it's seen that teachers lack the view of comprehensiveness and takes into account the needs of a particular region, community, or state. Teachers might not be knowing the education problems at large, and if they construct the curriculum only limited educational problems would be sought. It is not the case with central authority they do not make a biased curriculum but think about the entire nation. On the other hand, if the central authority will design the curriculum all the factors will be taken into consideration.

The central authority spends the entire time investigating the problems in the educational field by constructing a curriculum effectively. These problems will vanish. However, sometimes teachers consider the task of designing a curriculum as a burden. They might not do justice to the role, so to avoid such situations the power of designing a curriculum should remain in the hands of a central system.

To sum up, it would be perfect if the central authority would make the curriculum. The central system will take into account different factors and bring unity. Instead, if teachers would be given the task of designing a curriculum then they will construct a curriculum keeping in mind limited students. Unlike teachers, central authority will create a curriculum for the entire nation and solve the problems in the educational field.

Band 6.5 IELTS Essay

There is an ongoing debate about whether central authority or teachers should design curricula. However, coming to a conclusion is still difficult. Many are of the view that teachers should be the creator of the curriculum. While some feel that the power of creating a curriculum should remain in the hands of central authority. I feel that and support the notion that 'Teachers Should Design The Curriculum'.

To begin with, teachers deal with the curriculum every day and know the difficulty that students face in dealing with it. If the teachers would be assigned the task of designing a curriculum then the curriculum would be more effective. They might tackle this issue and make the curriculum more justified and relevant in present times.

On the other hand, teachers are the actual people who are using the curriculum and know the ground reality. They will try to add those topics which can help students in linking their practical knowledge with academics. The central authority tends to use the traditional form of curriculum creation and add topics that are not applicable to the lives of students. The students consider it a burden to learn such topics. If teachers will be assigned this task, they can take the individual views of students into consideration.

Lastly, the teachers can plan the task of designing the curriculum conveniently. They will add only those topics which are relevant and can help students in the future. The basic role of the teacher is to guide and deliver well-planned explanations to students. If they create the curriculum, then teachers will get a first-hand idea of the curriculum and they will easily be able to deliver the explanation.

To sum up, the best people to design the curriculum are teachers since the central authority cannot do the task effectively. The planning on the part of central authority cannot justify anything, they just add on topics to the syllabus whether it has relevance or not. Unlike, central authority teachers plan and carry out the process of curriculum creation. It is a serious task that can either shape or destroy the view of students related to education.
