Model Answer 1

What the situation was?

Today, I'd want to discuss an instance in which I imparted knowledge to someone. I was in college at the time. My first year of college was at the time. One day, I noticed one of my students alone in a corner. I could see the unease, fear, and anxiety on her face. I considered going up to her to ask her about her concerns.

What you taught?

I learned from our conversation that she had borrowed money from an app, and the lenders were now pressuring her to repay them. She was unable to pay her dues at this time because her family wasn't in a position to do so. I listened to her, comforted her, and gave her the loan. I could spare a few dollars because I had some additional savings.

Who was this person?

Along with that, I let her know that the apps she was utilising weren't secure. Our contact information is essentially given to them, and they threaten us if the money is not paid on time. It is sort of a fraud, and these types of programmes ought to be reported. Additionally, I advised her that she should not trust any apps that charge excessive interest rates for only a week.

Explain how this might have helped the person?

Actually, they are robbing us blind. I described how a family member of mine used one of these money-laundering applications, fell for its tricks, and had to pay back three times as much as he had borrowed. I told her not to fall victim to such con artists and that she could always borrow money from me or any friend in times of need rather than relying on such apps. As not sharing will only make her problems worse, I also gave her the advice to always talk to someone about her worries. Her mental health could also be impacted by her. We grew close after that and she always confided in me or her family when she had troubles. She didn't engage in any impulsive behaviour and was never taught how to engage in such schemes.

What the situation was?
It was about four years ago when a friend of mine approached me to learn Python. Python has been trending for a few years now. Every other MNC is looking for candidates that have strong coding skills, especially in Python.

What you taught?

Moreover, Netflix uses Python, which is the stepping stone for people to learn Python. I had a good grasp of Python as I had been working in the IT industry for about three years. In this three-year timeline, I enhanced my coding skills and soon became an experienced coder in Python.

Who was this person?

This friend of mine wanted to learn to code as she wanted to get placed in one of the top firms in the city. As both her parents were government employees and had retired she was worried that she still didn’t have a job in hand. She desperately wanted to stand on her feet, thus, she approached me. I was happy to help her as it would also give me a chance to revise all the concepts again. It took me about two weeks to teach her at least advanced-level skills so that she could crack interviews.

Explain how this might have helped the person?

She started applying for jobs side-by-side and we also kept learning python parallel. This helped her to get an experience with the interviews and understand what kind of questions the interviewer would ask. As it was her first time applying for any job I trained her by giving some tips and tricks for the interviews. It took us about a month, and she finally started getting good at coding. The best part was that she grasped everything easily, so the course which would otherwise take about 6 months, was completed in half this time. I was glad that I could help and teach her something as she later got places in one of the Big 4’s. She and her parents were elated on hearing the news. She later thanked me for all my help.

Model Answer 3

What the situation was?
My mother is a government employee. She has been working in a government office for more than thirty years now. Once I went to visit her in the office as I wanted to discuss something urgent and she wasn’t receiving my phone call.

What you taught?

As I entered the office it reminded me of an old setting, the times when there were no computers and any digital technology of any kind. All I could see at a glance were huge piles of files and everyone bogged down in them.

Who was this person?

To my amazement, the office had only 2-3 computers in a corner of the office. To top it off the employees did not know how to use Ms. Excel or Word, which could make their work so much easier as they had been working with so much data. I asked my mother about it and she said it was the same scenario for quite some time.

Explain how this might have helped the person?

She further added that if I wanted I could take up two classes a week and teach all the employees, Ms. Excel and Ms. Word. As I was on a college break I agreed to the offer. I spent my entire college break teaching all the employees at my mother's office. At first, it was a little difficult teaching them due to the lack of computers. They were more into doing it practically than learning the theory. The huge piles of files had I taught them to feed their data into Excel. I was happy that I could contribute something to their office and I am sure it would have shed their burden of working with huge chunks of data to a great extent.
