Topic: People think studying from the past offers no benefits to today’s life, while others believe history is a valuable source of information for us. Discuss both perspectives and give your opinion.

Model Answer 1:

It has been often seen that people all over the world possess a divided opinion on the importance and advantages of historical studies in the development of today's modern life. A few individuals believe that studying the past would not generate any impact on modern life because of the recent advanced technologies while others believe that historical information plays a very important role in the present lives too. As medicinal studies in early centuries still helps in the development of new advances till date. The essay below is going to shed light on both of these viewpoints.

As we can observe that humans have developed technologies and devices to reach distant planets in space, and now even space is not out of human reach. This is a classic example of a scenario where historical information has not helped in achieving modern development. For example, there should have been a mention of some space devices, like the space shuttle, but they never existed in the past, thus they could not contribute to the future development in space technology. Hence, Historical information would not be helpful at all in scenarios where the ancestors have not faced such scenarios.

On the other hand, there are several areas where historical information plays a crucial role in the development of technologies in recent times. One such case is the medicinal field, the translation of skilled surgical techniques mentioned in the ancient books, such as Rig Veda, several cardiovascular techniques are adapted from this book, into modern techniques by medical researchers, doctors are capable of performing critical surgeries in today's world.

In conclusion, I believe that there are many hidden gems, in our history, books, manuscripts, documents, etc, capable of developing new efficient skills and techniques. For making the best use of our historical knowledge and information, researchers need to dig a little deeper. Thus, a prediction can be made that the field of science will be gifted with more skills by the efforts of these researchers.

Model Answer 2:

The role of history in modem life has become a serious and most discussed topic of discussion in the modern world. Despite the constant arguments claiming that the importance of historical knowledge in modern life is impractical and useless, I am more convinced that history is an invaluable source of information and knowledge for contemporary humans and the modern world too.

On one hand, some people believe that historical knowledge is of no use or benefits to modern life. One of the most important reasons is that learning about historical and sad events such as wars in the past would bring painful feelings and loss of faith in humanity rather than any certain benefits. For example, memorizing terrorist attacks, wars, or inhumane events in the past seems to leave upsetting emotions and often leaves modern people miserable since they cannot reverse the history. In addition, the most knowledgeable legacies of the past have become outdated in the modern contexts. Whereas, in modern days breakthroughs take place daily. Therefore, findings from researching history would be deemed unnecessary and have limited value to modem development.

On the other hand, I believe that one of the most valuable references and sources of information nowadays comes from history. Firstly, the young generation can have more opportunities to access and inherit legacies from their ancestors. But past knowledge and discoveries could create a solid foundation on which people can further develop their advances with the goal of generating considerable contributions to modern humankind. Secondly, learning the mistakes from the previous cases and growing process is an immensely valuable experience that modern people can use to prevent mistakes made by previous generations. For example, by analysing the causes which lead to disastrous world wars, governmental officials can understand and remember the lessons learnt, trying to compromise and refrain from decisions triggering another war.

In conclusion, from the above reasons, even though the role of history is invaluable to some people, I would embrace the contribution of history as mankind’s valuable source of information.

Model Answer 3:

History is defined as the study of past events, especially the study of human affairs. It might include the study of a country, person, organization, past, a particular event, or an entire generation. According to me, reading and learning the lessons taught by history can be a valuable lesson for the present generation.

Foremost, history can be very crucial for the development of an individual and society. Learning history can help the present generation to understand their culture, the origin of their culture, their roots. It at times unites people together along with giving them the sense of their belonging. History teaches crucial lessons about their past experiences, sufferings, and thus can affect the present and future of the individual. History is one of the favourite subjects of many students since it is easy to understand the subject and is a valuable lesson to everyone. Everyone can learn from the past wars and battles and prevent the decisions which might result in the same.

On one hand, some people believe that historical knowledge is of no use or benefit to benefit modern life. The world nowadays is facing problems like pollution, global warming, which were not seen in the past. Thus, studying the past in such cases would not be useful at all since these problems are new and modern, thus requiring modern solutions. Similarly, the problems associated with digitalisation cannot be solved by studying history. Thus history is useless in such modern situations and people are constantly working hard to find out modern solutions for these modern problems. Secondly, history could not and will never teach us about the rapidly and constantly changing world. Thus, according to such people, our present world is constantly innovating and does not require the person to be stuck in past lessons.

In conclusion, I believe that there are many hidden gems and lessons, in our history, books, manuscripts, documents, etc, capable of developing new efficient skills and techniques.
