Topic: University students often focus on one subject. However some people think that universities should encourage a range of other subjects. To what extent do you agree?

Band 7 IELTS Essay

Today, for pupils to thrive in this cutthroat environment, information is as essential as breathing. University students frequently focus on just one subject. They believe that learning one subject will provide them the opportunity to become experts in it. Which they can then apply to gain employment. However, other individuals believe that learning multiple subjects in a university will never happen to a jobless person. And that they would never depend on a single subject for their continued growth and development. It has greatly satisfied me.

First and foremost, kids pick up knowledge from their experiences and the environment in which they live. Learning diverse disciplines can also help students expand their knowledge in a variety of fields. Because learning new things that won't be useful to you in the future is never a waste of time. At various points in their careers, those subjects are beneficial. Additionally, they need to develop personally in order to thrive in this society and environment.

Universities must also provide a variety of courses. Including management, philosophy, psychology, economics, and others. In contrast to studying just one subject, the students obtain more knowledge from that and concentrate more on each subject. In order to thrive and compete with others, they also improve their communication, cognitive, and marketing skills. They simultaneously develop a more open mindset and widen their perspective to observe the technology world from various angles.

However, after learning about a single topic for a while, a person may develop a rigid mindset about concentrating only on that topic. As a result, their growth won't change as they age. Finally, they fail to survive in this cutthroat society and make poor choices throughout their lives.

In conclusion, I advise the community to focus on a variety of university courses. Rather than picking a single one if they want to learn for their own personal growth and development. I wholeheartedly concur with these facts.

Band 8.5 IELTS Essay

In the modern era, college students typically concentrate on a single subject. Some individuals think that proponent classes are also crucial for learning. While I do concede that learning a variety of disciplines might be advantageous. I think that concentrating on one subject helps students become specialists and experts in that field.

First off, it is undeniable that concentrating on a particular subject will aid people in becoming experts in it. This occurs as a result of pupils devoting the majority of their time to reading and studying the pertinent content. They will consequently comprehend that teaching more thoroughly. As an illustration, the vast majority of applicants accepted to engineering colleges go on to become engineers, scientists, or researchers. Additionally, concentrating solely on one major avoids the possibility of distraction among the students. Which is more likely to happen if they have a wider range of options. Therefore, having a small selection of disciplines prevents them from becoming undecided on what major to choose.

However, if university students take a ton of courses, they will be able to understand a wide range of classes. For those who lack a clear idea of their ideal work, this is helpful. Additionally, it might assist individuals in finding solutions to issues from several angles.

Even though we are experts in many fields, it makes no difference if someone wants to be a doctor or a lawyer. Since they require a thorough understanding of those fields, it is not optimal for them to take a variety of classes in school. For instance, a student who wants to be an engineer is exempt from studying geography or history. Consequently, it is advisable for pupils to concentrate on our area of expertise

In conclusion, even pursuing several subjects while in college allows students to have a comprehensive understanding of all of those subjects. In my opinion, it is vital for them to focus on the major subject to make them have in-depth knowledge and skill.

Band 9 IELTS Essay

Students study a wide range of disciplines at school, including literature, science, and the arts and music. Some people are adamant that colleges should teach a wide range of pupils in a consistent manner. I disagree with this viewpoint since this approach is not good for society or students.

By the time kids graduate from high school, they have a solid grasp of a number of disciplines. For instance, the majority of them are able to read and write in two or three other languages. Perform calculations, recognize the signs of common illnesses, and comprehend the fundamental ideas of physics, chemistry, and geography. Most people can navigate their daily lives with this understanding. Additionally, specialization is essential for people who desire to pursue a profession in a certain industry. For instance, mastering calculus or trigonometry is not beneficial for someone who wants to become a doctor. In the same way, an architect is not required to comprehend astrophysics or thermodynamics. Instead, they require extensive knowledge in the area of interest.

Additionally, in a nation like India, where the educational system is underdeveloped. And occasionally forces students to choose from a variety of disciplines. Many local institutions and colleges hold tests that must be taken in order to be admitted. Additionally, it will be challenging to handle and move forward with this. Learning a subject is a good habit to develop logical and cognitive understanding.

Universities will not be able to develop professionals with cutting edge knowledge. And skill in particular disciplines if they teach all topics to all students. It goes without saying that using this way of teaching or learning endangers society's well-being as well as the job chances of the students. There is a need for specialists in every community, and the only way to generate specialists is to provide education that is concentrated on particular areas.

In conclusion, the claim that universities should teach a variety of disciplines to all students is unpersuasive. Because doing so not only harms the individual's career chances but also results in a shortage of specialists in society.
