Band 8 IELTS Essay

The mind of a child is considered a white paper. The people surrounding them write the way they grow up. School is one of them as it is considered the second home of every child. Children learn discipline and character-building lessons in school.

It impacts the minds of the children whatever they are taught in school. This has positive and negative impacts as well. If they are scolded at school, it creates a negative impact on their mind. If this gets over his mind, the child will stop going to school. He will be totally detached and miss school. On the other hand, small tokens of appreciation help motivate the children. Therefore, it is better to reward a child for his little achievement rather than punish him for his silly mistake.

Everyone becomes happy when they are rewarded. Rewarding makes a child more involved in his studies and provides motivation. He becomes more and more enthusiastic about things. A child becomes more fond of his teachers and school. They start going to school every day and enjoy their studies. So we can see a small appreciation of reward, for doing good in school or doing good in school sports can make him better in any way. Therefore, rewarding is good in all aspects. Now if a child is punished for doing a silly mistake in his homework, he becomes afraid of the teacher. He lost any interest in school and dropped out. He feels frightened of being punished in front of his friends again and again. Studying seems very difficult to him, and he lost all kinds of interest in this. This can affect a child’s life so badly. As he is devoid of all kinds of schooling he becomes an undisciplined child and can’t stand in the future without a basic education. Therefore, for correcting a child’s mistake, punishment can never be a good option. To sum up, punishment is not recommended at all to change the behavior of an irregular and dull child. Rewarding them and giving them affectionate advice can change them in a good way and help them all over their life.

Rewarding at shool makes a child be regular and love studies. They learn to be disciplined, which in turn helps them in the future. Education in a good way inspires people to bring out the best in them.

Band 7 IELTS Essay

Teaching methods of school have an immense influence on a child’s mind. It helps to create a good personality in a child. Therefore, the teacher has to tackle a child carefully and affectionately. For instance, rewarding a child for his good deeds is always better than punishing him for silly mistakes.

Rewards can make a child more enthusiastic in study and get him good marks in school. It improves his performance as a whole. The reward is something very petty that still impacts a lot. If a child is rewarded and loved by his teachers, he automatically feels a sense of honor and fondness for them. This feeling can pull him to school every day. He will be more attentive to getting more rewards from his teachers. In this entire process, he will definitely perform well. For example, those who are not that good at their studies should not be punished for that. Maybe he is good at sports. So he must be rewarded and appreciated for his talent. In this way, he will try to make his teachers happy and will find more interest in sports as he is already appreciated. On the other hand, if a child is punished for not being that attentive to his studies it can make him traumatized. He will feel a sense of terror and will lose all kinds of interest in his studies. Punishment can be a permanent scar in his mind. This scar affected his entire lifestyle. Character building will lose its path, and he will become the burden of society. If he is punished for what he likes then he will lose all kinds of fondness for everything which is imposed upon him. Finally, we can say rewarding a child is a far better option to teach a child about discipline and lifestyle. It is a healthy practice because it will help him understand how important school studies is. This sense will help him in his higher studies and all over his life. Undoubtedly, rewarding causes better performance than punishment.

Band 6.5 IELTS Essay

Appreciation is always better than mere physical punishment in building discipline. School is the place where children first learn to be disciplined. Many schools prefer punishment to make their pupil disciplined though it may lead to fatal results. The reward can never make a child traumatized or affect a child. Therefore, rewarding is very appreciative to building character and discipline.

Making rewards a small destination can create a need or accomplish a given task. For example, if a teacher gives a task to his students and says if you complete this property there will be a secret reward for everyone, then automatically the pupil will get more attentive to their tasks just to explore that reward. Furthermore, this kind of rewarding mystery can make them very interested and enthusiastic, and consistent in their work. This will create a fondness towards the school and its teachers. A small candy as a reward for doing the work can impact a child's mind very pleasantly. He will continue his studies to get more and more rewards from his teacher. As a whole, he will definitely improve in his studies and keep on trying to perform well. Punishment is a very depressing matter. It can never be a way to teach a child how to be disciplined in work. If punishment is the goal then there will be a threat always rounding up. For example, if a teacher says whoever will miss the homework will be punished badly, then being frightened by the sense of punishment may be children will be absent that day. Therefore, it is not a very fruitful process to teach the child. It will fail to create any interest in studies. Furthermore, it will affect the mind of the child. To make a good personality and create a sense of accomplishment, rewarding takes the best position rather than punishment. Punishment is not at all recommended to mend a bad habit of a child. Rewarding will help a child to grow more without any fear of failure.
