The most amount of money was spent on travel, which has increased significantly reflecting the growing popularity of international travel. In fact, between 1993 and 2008, travel spending almost tripled from £9bn to £27bn. In 2009, there was a sharp decline to just over 21 billion, but the number stabilized over the next few years.

However, in 2013 he again showed signs of reaching £24 billion with 4,444 deals.

Spending in other regions has been much more stable over the last 20 years. Spending on visiting friends and relatives has gradually increased from around 1 billion in 1993 to around 4 billion in 2013. The amount spent for business purposes has shown a modest increase with some fluctuations since 2000, but has remained roughly constant since 2013. Approximately £5 billion in 2008.

By 2008, this number had skyrocketed to just over 24 billion pounds before encountering a precipitous decline around 2009; it subsequently decreased by roughly three percent. The expenditure on vacations then maintained stability at around £22 billion until mid-2012 when it reached nearly £24 billion by the end of the year in 2013.

British people allocated a total of approximately three billion pounds to other forms of travel, significantly less than the amount earmarked for holidays. Over two decades, these figures experienced mild fluctuations but ultimately rose. By the end of this period, expenditures on business ventures and visits with friends or relatives hovered around five billion pounds; meanwhile, miscellaneous purposes accounted for an amount slightly higher than one billion pounds.
