Band 7 IELTS Essay
It is true that there has been much discussion on whether to invest a sizable sum of money on space exploration or not. Given this, some analysts believe that investing in space exploration is crucial for the advancement of human understanding. While others see it as a waste of money and believe that it would be better spent addressing some of the world's most pressing problems. Before drawing a logical conclusion, this essay will present arguments in support of each side of the contention.
The first and most important reason why space research should be given less importance is poverty. Thousands of individuals generally go hungry or lack extremely basic human requirements every day. The amount of money we spend only to expand our knowledge. Or to reach more people in the world who still struggle to get food, clothing, and other necessities is staggering. Many people believe that studying space is useless in the face of other, more immediate issues that humanity is currently facing. Another pressing issue that requires additional investigation and prevention is fatal diseases. Because of this, many people do not see the need for the resources employed in space exploration. There are various groups that support investing more money in space exploration to advance human knowledge. These groups of people think that space travel is necessary for our own good. Be it to look for other sentient species, comprehend the cosmos, or find more resources, or even find a suitable spot for people to reside on another planet. They contend that conflicts, criminal activity, and corruption are more costly and problematic than space exploration. They believe that for the benefit of humanity as a whole, we should study about the model and history of our universe. In conclusion, it is absolutely acceptable to allocate a percentage of the budget to space exploration. Nevertheless, in my opinion, governments should shoulder more responsibility for improving their respective countries. And in ensuring the basic necessities of their citizens before investing excessive amounts of money in space exploration.

Definitely the costs involved are high with such productions of spaceships and the research involved. The investments made by NASA in terms of money, and natural resources like oil is huge. Impact on the environment is high with lack of energy efficient production enabled. More knowledge around the functioning of the space could be found from these explorations. Hence, space exploration is more inclined towards mankind development than wastage of resources.
