Band 7 IELTS Essay

Some individuals believe that a player's muscular strength determines their chances of success in sports. However, others maintain that a player's mental toughness is more crucial for success on the field. My personal belief is that physical stamina is more significant than mental agility. First and foremost, the fundamental argument in favour of my viewpoint is that game control mostly depends on one's mental fortitude. Take my favourite tennis player, Andy Roddick, for instance. When he was younger than other players, he displayed the strongest energy. He had poor emotional restraint, though. Even if he had won the first two sets, he might still make a mistake if the opponent enraged him. These illustrations show how a person's psychological state can affect how well a sporting event goes.

While playing a game, mental toughness is unquestionably crucial. The ability to concentrate and maintain sight of the target are essential for players. They must also be capable of continuing to play when their opponent outperforms them in a game without losing heart. They will perform poorly and lose the game if they lose heart and get sad, which will also have an adverse effect on their performance.

Muscle strength, on the other hand, is significantly more crucial. Because physical sport is not a mental game, a player cannot accomplish much by developing a strong mind alone. Sportspeople who compete on the field need to have incredible physical strength and endurance. For instance, a football player should be able to perform for at least 90 minutes at a time. The body is used for all of these tasks, including running, jumping, attacking, and defending. They can't keep playing if their body isn't strong. Of course, having mental stability will help them maintain their focus without getting discouraged, but having focus alone is not enough to win the game.

To sum up, players require both physical and mental skills to succeed in a game. However, in athletic competitions, physical strength is far more crucial than cerebral skill. Because success in such sports depends totally on a player's capacity to play nonstop for the entire game.

Band 7.5 IELTS Essay

While many people believe that physical strength plays a big role in sports performance, there are some who believe that mental toughness plays a bigger role. Before formulating a logical conclusion, a comprehensive examination is necessary because both of these viewpoints have merit in their own right.

One the one hand, individuals who hold the view that a person's mental fortitude is more significant than their physical capabilities hold. It is the view that a person with a strong mind can outperform their rivals in a game. As an illustration, one can frequently see that size has no bearing on outcomes in many contact sports, such as boxing and wrestling.

They continue by saying that a player has a better chance of winning when he is fully focused on the game. But if he loses heart and feels defeated, it will show in his play as a whole and could lead to a losing game. On the other hand, people who believe that muscle strength is an important aspect of sports believe that a sound body is necessary for all sports. For instance, athletes must have exceptional physical strength and endurance to compete in sports like football, hockey, or athletics. Before taking part in any of these sports, they must build and maintain their muscular conditioning. However, I personally think that mental attitudes are much more important than physical abilities, not just in athletics but in all kinds of activities. The ability to cope with setbacks, successes, stressful situations, and other aspects of life is made possible by having good mental health. Imagine, for instance, that Sachin Tendulkar had not become one of the greatest cricket players in history if he had not stopped worrying about his failures in games.

If they lack this kind of power, they will unquestionably show themselves to be weak competitors who can easily lose games to their rivals.

Sports players require both physical and mental skills to succeed, it is abundantly obvious at this point. The mental component, in my opinion, only functions well when the participant is physically fit enough to meet the requirements.

Band 6.5 IELTS Essay

Recent years have seen disputes arise over the discussion of the value of both physical and mental toughness in terms of sporting success. Some claim that mental strength is more important than physical health as a prerequisite for success. However, some people hold the opinion that physical strength is a prerequisite for success in sports. With all sides of the issue taken into account, I fervently support the latter claim, and in this article, I'll elaborate on both sides of my case.

All sports trainers need good mental health on the one hand since it can inspire them to push through challenges in their careers. A sportsperson can easily give up following failures if they do not have mental stability. Dang Van Lam, a talented and successful goalkeeper for the Vietnam national football team, serves as a good example of this. Before being well-known, he was turned down by the sports federation a significant deal of times. There is no doubt that he would not have been as motivated to work hard and succeed if it weren't for his competitive nature or even a win-at-all-costs mindset. Athletes must develop mental skills like dedication and determination in order to succeed in sport.

On the other hand, it is apparent that physical power must form the cornerstone of any sporting success. The majority of sports, including swimming, weightlifting, and aerobics, call for stamina, flexibility, and agility. As a result, for this person to excel in this sector, physical strength is necessary. For instance, if an athlete does not have sufficient stamina and strength. He will not be able to control his voice to overcome all the obstacles and arrive at the objective first in the marathon competition.

Although having both physical and mental toughness is crucial to excel in sports. I personally think that physical strength can surpass mental toughness.
