Band 7 IELTS Essay

Some people contend that as time has gone on, we have become more independent and less dependent on others. Contrary to the belief of some that modernization has made us more dependent on one another. More than at any other moment in history, I think, we are now truly independent. People who argue that we are more interdependent than ever in this age frequently make the case that we need to engage with a greater number of people. We must, in a sense, rely on others to meet our needs as a result of this.

For instance, office executives typically rely on restaurants, housemaids, cleaning services, laundry services, and others to complete their necessary tasks. The majority of these jobs were once completed by individuals. Furthermore, until we find work, we rely on our parents to meet our requirements. Because the cost of housing, schooling, and other necessities is increasing at an alarming rate. Our parents and kids will depend on us once we are contributing members. Individuals need to socialise and get to know people from different backgrounds due to their busy schedules and high aspirations. It leads to a wider circle where people are more likely to engage and depend on one another. However, I would concur with those who believe that modernization has increased our freedom and reduced our dependence on others. In the majority of nations, young children are working to pay for their school and daily expenses. They want to remain in their own homes after a certain age. People are less dependent on other people, as evidenced by the prevalence of nuclear and single-parent families. We have the freedom to choose the school, the destination, and the majority of the significant life events, including our life partners. We are now more independent thanks to technological advancement, and we enjoy utilising cutting-edge tools and equipment to create things on our own. For instance, nowadays many people choose online lessons rather than being accepted into a training facility. A paradigm shift in how we make a living has occurred because many of us even have the option of working from home. Finally, the movements for gender equality and women's empowerment have considerably helped to liberate and empower women. In conclusion, I personally think that we are more liberated and independent now.

Band 7.5 IELTS Essay

In the modern world there have been two kinds of arguments relating to the dependency of people on each other. Some argue that the rapidly advancing society has made each other more dependent than ever. On the other hand there is equal and justifiable opposition to the sentence. However, it may be noticed that study suggests that the people have become more dependent than ever in the new world. Owing to several reasons which I am going to discuss throughout the essay.

In medieval and ancient society people were dependent on each other to fulfill their basic requirements. And still were able to meet the other demands by accessing the resources on their own. In the modern era of technology and urbanization, people have lost compassion. And in order to meet current requirements one is more dependent on the society and also to the other fellows. For example- the cost of living has increased drastically and it has become struggling for the families. To count on only one earning member to meet the family’s requirements. Hence, there is a need for other members or other sources of income to survive the new era. Additionally it has been observed that Children are now not looking up to their parents for fulfilling their school/college fees and meeting their expenses. Children are trying to take the command on their hand and working part time to reduce the burden on their family. Women have also been seen working actively as the way they want, earlier they used to get criticism for the same. But the modern world has made behavioral changes in society primarily because it was the need of the hour and a second source of income is warmly welcomed. The above arguments support that the dependency has increased in the modern world.

Band 8 IELTS Essay

The modernization has resulted in deepening the cooperation and has thus increased the dependency of the people. In the advancing society and rapidly increasing population jobs have become difficult tasks to achieve. Because the society is advancing at a hypersonic speed and thus the companies (or Employers) are never in the position to bear a mistake of the employee. Thereby, increasing the demands of micro specialists in the company who have forte in the particular task. This has resulted in an increase in efficiency but has also reduced the ability of the person to multitask. Because he/she cannot master the other field due to paucity of time.

This has caused employers to hire people who are experts in the task which is demanded. For payments one is dependent on his or her boss, earlier one used to carry out trade or was self-sufficient in some way. Independence should not be measured with the myopic lens of liberation of thoughts. Because these are moral norms and are unable to serve and feed life. The enlightenment Swiss philosopher has once stated, man is born free and everywhere he is in chains. This means that man is extremely free only when he is born, later he is bound by the social norms, laws, borders etc. Modernisation has compelled the members of the society to cooperate. Which is, although required for inclusiveness thus for development. To meet and conduct the daily chores with cooperation as an individual cannot carry out all of his work on his own. He’ll always count on some other person who can assist him/her in the tasks. On critically analyzing it is found that this is all because of the rapid globalization, people are always in hurry and are never on time. To mitigate this challenge one always looks upon the other to delegate his/her work to somebody else who can carry out the tasks for her. Example- To look after the baby mothers often hire babysitters, to clean even a small house a helper is paid etc. So, it is evident from the above instances that the modernization has caused an increase in dependency.
