Topic: Some people think it is not necessary for adults to receive education in class. Self-study is a good way for them to study more effectively. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Band 7 IELTS Essay

Rather than attending classes at school, some people have a tendency to think that studying independently is a superior way to learn effectively. If asked, I would say that I strongly disagree with this position. With support from arguments and instances, I further develop my position. The main defence for my position is the time commitment involved in self-study.

To give you an example, if kids are having maths problems, they must watch web videos to find solutions. Students are wasting the best years of their academic careers since it will take too much time. Conversely, students utilize professors' constructive criticism. For instance, when students are preparing for the IELTS exam, it is important for them to obtain sound advice from experts in order to achieve high band scores. Additionally, because each student has a set timetable, the academic environment helps people become more responsible. As a result, it will have an immediate effect on their academic performance, and they will perform better than anticipated. For instance, studies have shown that kids who enroll in institutions rather than learning alone at home are 95% more likely to succeed. On the other hand, it is also true that adults in the contemporary digital world can obtain videos and lessons from their studies online. As a result, individuals may study through the internet and prefer self-learning rather than attending a classroom. For instance, the YouTube channel with the name Study IQ offers films that teach students in grades 5 through 12. Therefore, this platform will also be helpful to individuals who are unable to pay for institute tuition. To sum up, it should be reiterated that I firmly believe studying at home would take a lot of time and wouldn't provide a conducive environment for learning. Modern technology, on the other hand, provides everything at home.

Involvement in formal schooling is essential for pupils. While some people strongly disagree with this viewpoint, others believe that students should work hard to learn without a teacher's guidance. Personally, I feel that a mix of in-class tutoring and home study is the ideal response to this topic for the reasons listed below.

On the one hand, students can increase their knowledge by doing their own independent study. First and foremost, it is much more convenient than other methods since people may learn at any time, from anywhere, over the Internet. In particular, this studying strategy may lessen the challenges of long distances. Second, they have access to a wealth of information sources just through researching on the Internet. The Internet is no doubt a better resource than a traditional library because you may access a wide range of materials in a variety of subjects right now. Students are able to gain various advantages from the independent study because they can even access updated knowledge via the Internet. In contrast, kids who learn in a classroom have an edge over those who do it at home. Teachers can first motivate their students to work harder in the classroom. To be more precise, they keep them entirely focused on the teachings. This not only helps pupils develop a love of learning but also enables them to make significant advancements. Furthermore, pupils occasionally make mistakes when studying, thus professors are the ones who should remedy those faults on their behalf. Therefore, it is much better for students to learn in class if they choose this option. It also frequently provides advantages that online education programmes and other ongoing career development programmes do not. In a nutshell, students should spend more time on their own homework after school in order to get the best outcomes possible from both of these factors.

The quest for knowledge is constant and education is a lifelong endeavour. It's debatable whether or not adults should have an in-classroom education. And some people contend that they don't need the typical mentorship that takes place in schools because they are capable of learning things on their own.

Although formal instruction in a classroom has its benefits, I think self-study is better for individuals. All success tales, without a doubt, revolve around "internal motivation and hard effort." So, with the aid of cutting-edge technologies, highly motivated individuals can study on their own. For instance, online education is a more recent trend, and even someone who is employed can enrol in certification courses online. Additionally, the majority of businesses include continuous education in their daily agendas. The expertise of employees can therefore be increased in this way without attending regular classroom training. The majority of the time, returning to student life is difficult for an adult. Adults can now learn at home, and they no longer require teachers to monitor their behaviour or enforce rules in order to study. This is thanks to the advent of technology. Self-learning is the most effective learning method, and this is true for both children and adults. Therefore, proponents of this viewpoint think that formal education is a waste of time and unneeded for adults. On the other hand, some individuals think that consistent classroom mentoring is the only way education can be meaningful. Sometimes, self-motivation is ineffective, therefore students need the guidance and evaluation of their teachers. Furthermore, they think that the internal and environmental elements influencing a person's learning process make adult life distinct from childhood. Adult life, for instance, is challenging and stressful due to the numerous obligations it entails. It is therefore necessary that an outside mentor will continue to motivate and help you.
