Band 7.5 IELTS Essay

Time is more valuable than money in the modern world. One of the most crucial elements in this vital area of life is the effective use of time. Two opposing mindsets are engaged in a fundamental argument. Although the first group holds the view that careers are more significant than family and friends. Others disagree, arguing that family and friends should take precedence over work and careers. Before drawing a judgement, we shall evaluate both points of view in comparison.

First off, those who place more importance on their professions and occupations often think that as their careers advance. And so will their families' and friends' lifestyles. For instance, a man with a successful career will be able to provide for his family far more effectively than someone who earns a pitiful amount of money. Additionally, he will be able to save enough money in case unanticipated events result in his losing his employment. As a result, the family will make a compromise regarding this time aspect. While they continue living comfortably and keeping in mind that whatever one does will ultimately be beneficial for his family and friends. We will now look at the viewpoint of those who tend to think that placing too much emphasis on their careers and jobs will have a negative impact. They may have issues like depression and other conditions as a result of feeling abandoned and marginalised. These people are willing to sacrifice their employment, pay, privileges, and benefits in order to spend more time with their loved ones. In order to relieve any burden on the earner, families are often delighted to cut back on superfluous expenses. He then resumes living his life normally. To sum up, each mindset has its own priorities and objectives, based on which they choose to prioritise over the other. Either family and friends above careers or vice versa. But I tend to think that, in comparison to careers and employment, family and friends should be given more weight.

In this era, people have limited time though there are multiple things to look for. Utilization of time in the right direction is the most difficult and important task. There is a dilemma as to where time should be utilized either building a career or spending quality time with friends and family. Considering the two aspects where time can be utilized, people usually lie under two groups. One group belongs to people who wish to focus more on enhancing their careers and the other group is concerned with people who wish to spend quality time with friends and family.

Talking of the first group, people usually prefer to look for better opportunities that are useful for their career growth. Since, the amount of competition these days has taken a giant form. Hence, an individual has to work harder. Putting into simple words, the life of an individual who wishes to excel in their professional life is troublesome as they have to run after promotions, increments, and improving careers. The stress of a few years in the professional line can repay you in the form of career growth. On the other hand, valuing your family and friends by spending time with them regularly can increase the chances of having a joyful life. One's family and friends can become a strength system to support morally. Further, to regain your mental, intellectual and physical progress, keeping certain time aside for family and friends becomes crucial. The long hours of working throughout the day can reduce the self-esteem of a person drastically. Thus, by giving your mental health a superiority, spending a few hours can ease people's major problems.

The main reason why everyone wishes to have a stable career with lots of appraisals is to keep their families happy. But, while building up their career they neglect family and friends which is not right. Although it is required to keep a balance between career growth and having a fun time with family and friends, people seem to have a slight bias towards spending time on professional growth. Perhaps, spending time on professional enhancement is not at all bad, as you are not only thinking about yourself but about your family and friends too.

'Time and Tide wait for none', this quote makes the debate of spending time on career or with family and friends more confusing. Today's generation prefers to have a successful life ahead, but wish to have a good social life too. Youngsters often prefer to have both these things in life, but is it possible? Well yes, by keeping a well-structured schedule and further creating a balance in life would be beneficial to help such people to maintain their time. Though, maintaining balance and distance between professional development and personal life is difficult but not impossible.

Being a person with an ambitious career path one might give more preference to improve their career. Ultimately, people feel if they had an improved career, then their life would be settled. All the luxury and power of money will be in their hands. From living a rich lifestyle to having grand vacations will be a part of focusing on careers more. Thus, in the end, whatever they want can be bought with money apart from the relationships, which cannot be bought. However, spending time with friends and family instead of focusing much on a career is not a bad idea. Obviously giving time to family and friends becomes important. Family serves as a tool to help you relieve professional burden and it's always preferable to share your career path with them. When you walk hand-in-hand with both your career and family or friends then your life will become easier.

To release the burden of professional life, hanging out with friends and family is required. Further, the main reason you wish to earn better is for your family and have a good financial impression among your friends. So, why not give your family a little time while improving your career.

Everyone wishes to have a successful professional life but not at the cost of their health. Keeping one's health intact on a daily basis can be done by having a regular meet-up with family and friends.
