Band 8 IELTS Answer

When it comes to the subject of mental and physical exercise, people tend to hold varying viewpoints. Some claim that physical activity promotes more relaxation. Others contend that mental exercises like chess, crosswords, and puzzles make them feel more at ease. But in my opinion, physical exercise is preferable to the other one because it gives one more peace of mind after a hard day's work.

Gymnastics is one way that people express their desire for a free mind. They can become weary on their own by engaging in physical activity if they are experiencing any mental pain.

By participating in the activity while exercising, individuals can calm their minds. For instance, a person who is mentally depressed can visit a gym and work out there, which will make them fatigued. They can unwind their minds by doing this. They are insistent that physical exercise can help them cope with mental stress because of these reasons.

On the other hand, some contend that ease comes from playing mental games. The games that require thinking are the ones that liberate our minds from stress. Additionally, playing brain games keeps a person from overthinking, which promotes mental health.

For instance, a man playing with a puzzle only considers how to solve it at that very moment. He or she loses track of the tension he or she is experiencing right now while participating in that particular activity. Therefore, it makes perfect sense that cerebral games or power games also provide mental rest.

In conclusion, as everyone has a unique perspective, both methods of thinking are valid due to certain goals. While some people place importance on physical activity, others give mental exercises top priority. Personally, I believe that each of them has advantages of their own and that they are both like the two sides of a coin. But it's physical activity that calms our minds and helps us live happier, more peaceful lives.

Band 7.5 IELTS Answer

Human beings often do different kinds of work in order to relax their mind. For getting refreshment, some are dependent upon physical activities whereas others only do mental exercises. Both of them are vital to a human being. However, according to me, the relaxation obtained through brain activities is the most comfortable one. Although this essay will discuss both the events properly by analysing them in depth.
According to some people, physical activities such as walking, jogging, and playing help to improve the physical as well as mental health of a person. In addition to this, if these exercises are done early in the morning, that is also beneficial and the body will get refreshed even for the full day. For example, if someone is doing some household chores which involve them physically, it can help them relieve from the boredom and avoid overthinking habits. That is, this type of exercise by tiring someone's body helps them increase their efficiency; physically as well as mentally by relieving their stress.
Anyway on the flipper side, some others are prioritising mental games including sudoku, crosswords, picture puzzles and so on. Even though people find these activities sometimes frustrating, these will help in the activation of their brain. Additionally, this will help them create a stronger mind which is practical as well by finding solutions to all the difficulties they are facing. For instance, if a person is playing chess, the objective he has in his mind may be regarding how to defeat his opponent in the game. By this, they can be less prone to emotional damage by only thinking about the game. In a nutshell, after discussing these points it is very much clear that both kinds of exercises have their own benefits. Depending upon either of them will only have merits. But, the people who are supporting them demand that the positive of one kind outweighs the other one. And I personally believe that rather than physical exercises , intellectual activities strengthen one's mind by keeping them away from negative thoughts.

Band 7 IELTS Answer

Getting relaxation and easiness is of greatest importance in the human body. Some people say that while doing brain exercises they find calm and quietness. At the same time, others prefer doing some physical activities thinking the latter is more beneficial than the former. Although, these two have their own benefits that will be discussed in this essay. In my viewpoint, both types of exercises are inevitable for a human being and it is their own personal choice to choose which one is suitable for them.
Inorder to keep them healthy, and give quietness and calmness to them, some people prefer physical fitness activities more. They argue that these kinds of activities not only give physical fitness but workout for mental soothness as well. Furthermore, it keeps them away from negative thoughts and always brings positiveness to their life. For instance, many studies proved that jogging for at least 45 minutes daily keeps them healthy by curbing health related issues. It also this helps them to get away from unhealthy life habits and thinking about negativity. That is why many such activities are preferred by most people.
On the other hand, people always engaged in physical jobs are more likely to depend on mental activities for freeing their mind. For this they depend upon sudoku, puzzles, word finding games, chess and so on. These people who are always doing physical activities must not want to go to a gym for their relaxation. For example, a person who is doing some carpentry work and reachi home will never think of going for walking or running. They may choose some intellectual games. There is one more advantage for these activities; they can be performed wherever we want to. Moreover it is not dependent upon the climate. It is for these reasons, some are going behind intellectual games rather than physical ones.
In conclusion, even if both the exercises have their own advantages, people are going for any one of them according to their preferences. I strongly recommend that everyone should follow both exercises of their personal choice in order to curb their health issues and thereby lead a proper life. For someone doing a desk job, physical exercise would be suitable and for others vice versa.
