Topic: Some people like to work for a few months in a year and for the rest of the time, they do what they like. Do the advantages of this job pattern outweigh its disadvantages?

Band 6.5 IELTS Essay

People now experience a greater amount of work-related stress than in previous decades. Due to this, they are pursuing various strategies, such as taking a year off from work, to escape these demanding job lives. Despite the fact that this work pattern boosts energy levels, in my opinion, the disadvantages of losing enthusiasm for work outweigh its benefits. First off, doing something that one enjoys while taking a break from their demanding job would surely increase their energy and excitement.

The cause of this is that people become fatigued from performing the same mundane tasks repeatedly. People feel content and happy when they take a break from their busy lives and indulge in their interests. For instance, the majority of Hollywood celebrities work for only six months out of the year and spend the remaining time with their families and friends. Because they feel that taking time off from work is essential for living a fulfilling life. This is not practical for a middle-class worker, but it is viable for occasionally rich employees like performers and photographers. Nevertheless, despite the aforementioned benefit, this tendency has a wide range of negative effects. The first and most important is that a person's employment may be terminated if they are absent from work for an extended period of time. This is so that businesses can compete in today's market and avoid the expense of absenteeism by quickly hiring a substitute. For instance, most employees in international corporations are let go after a one-month absence. Another significant drawback is that losing interest in work after a prolonged period of separation from it can occur. Workers frequently struggle to manage the necessities of work life, which negatively affects their performance. In conclusion, taking a break from work for a few months might be good for the mind and body. Yet in my opinion, this expanding tendency can result in job loss and a loss of enthusiasm in current employment. Therefore, this method of functioning undoubtedly has more disadvantages than advantages.

Because of the increased workload, some employees now work for half a year before taking a half year off. Some people believe it would have a beneficial impact on their lives; yet, others hold opposing beliefs and believe it would have a negative impact. However, in my opinion, this tendency would have both beneficial and negative aspects, which I will attempt to explain below. First off, if an employee were to work for only a few months before taking the remainder of the time off, there would be a number of benefits.

First of all, a worker in this circumstance has the opportunity to lead a healthy lifestyle and to schedule more family vacations and outings. It is undeniable that this choice would be advantageous. Particularly for those who work high-paying positions that demand continuous support day and night and force them to work away from home. As a result, many people are unable to spend free time with their families. This option would undoubtedly be helpful for those who operate in demanding environments, such as those in Antarctica where it is quite cold. Working in this way, however, makes it impossible to disregard the drawbacks. Some people believe that because a worker won't have the same efficiency after they return, they would grow complacent and unproductive. For instance, after returning after a year-long study break, one of my coworkers' performances were lower than they had been before. The firm must engage temporary personnel to provide for the loss of work when an employee is unavailable for a set length of time each year. However, this may incur additional costs for the organisation in terms of educating those associates. Additionally, employees who work in this way occasionally experience financial loss and are forced to lead unpleasant lives. To summarise, operating in this way will have both positive and bad effects on an employee, just as every coin has two sides. I believe that everyone has the freedom to select their own manner of living.

Several members of today's society favour employment in contract positions. As a result, many believe they can work for a few weeks before taking a holiday. From my vantage point, it is indisputable that this statement contains some elements of truth. So, in this essay, I'll reflect on my personal opinion on such a propensity and offer convincing justifications for it. On the one hand, everyone in the population needs to be employed. According to me, the primary position should be compatible with the applicant's qualifications.

It would be dishonest to leave out the reality that many people alter their degree after leaving universities and colleges and frequently start working. Similar to how some people switch between various organisations, others search for themselves. Additionally, issues at work, such as low pay, a heavy workload from employers, and overwork, can cause employees to lose motivation. Therefore, some businesses should offer a variety of internships to help novices choose a suitable profession. However, other professionals assert that people desire to switch jobs in order to have a lot of free time for leisure activities. According to me, one of the primary arguments made by specialists in favour of such is that such people are less hardworking. Some kids, in my opinion, are not interested in pursuing careers or being hired by large organisations. Additionally, the modern social media possibilities have a significant impact on the population and have a ripple effect on it. For instance, the Internet offers a variety of online workplaces for communities. And many of them consider that working from home at a convenient time eliminates the need to commute to a workplace. Humans can similarly plan their lives and actions in relation to online employment. However, these people are few in number, and the majority prefers to work in the skilled sector as opposed to the unskilled. I should emphasise after making these comments that it is true that such a propensity is criticised. However, only individuals can decide for themselves what kind of work they find most satisfying.
