Some People Believe That Individuals Over 65 Should Not Be Allowed To Continue Working IELTS Writing Task 2

The opposition to this restriction, on the other side, contends that it is unfair to forbid employment based on age. Moreover, it cites that this goes against one's basic right to employment. Everybody has the right to engage in competition, work, and earn to the best of their abilities. A specific age does not mean that a person has lost the ability or strength to continue to be useful or competent in their line of work. For example, the majority of the world's top officials, such presidents or prime ministers, are senior citizens who are over 65 years old. A person's right to freedom and employment are violated when age restrictions are imposed, in my opinion, thus this practice is unfair.

In conclusion, despite the fact that restrictions on the working age tend to increase the number of job options for young people. It is unfair to bar seniors from working. I come to the conclusion that people must be permitted to work as freely as they can or want.

The fact can’t be denied that as we become older, both our physical and mental abilities drastically deteriorate. It is not financially feasible for senior adults to continue working after turning 65 for this reason. because they run a bigger risk of making mistakes, which could harm the reputation they've built at work. A person's productivity also decreases significantly as they age, which could be problematic for the organisation for which they work. For instance, a recent Oxford University study found that around the age of 60, an individual's average production decreases by 5% annually.

Many people, on the other hand, disagree and believe that there should be no age restriction on employment. Moreover, people should be able to work for whatever long they choose. According to their philosophy, putting an age restriction on employment would violate everyone's inalienable right to a living. This argument is false, though, as there would be less possibilities for the younger generation if the elderly continued to hold those positions. Iceland is the best example, where a high unemployment rate among young people is caused by a 67-year-old retirement age.

In conclusion, the senior population can continue to have financial security because they are allowed to work after turning 65. The younger generation will have fewer employment possibilities as a result of its destructive nature. Additionally, it would reduce the country's output. Therefore, setting a 65-year-old maximum age for employment is a wise decision.

However, some individuals think that persons in their 80s and 90s can still work. Many people contend that some of them are in sufficient health to continue working and only do so when they desire to. This perception is common because a lot of people, in general, have the perseverance and strength to carry out their duties for a long time. Another issue is that many workers over 65 do not have enough money to make ends meet in the absence of employment. An excellent illustration of this is found in developing nations, where people can work continuously for their entire lives. Yet not be able to live comfortably, relying only on their generally meagre retirement funds.

To summarise, I would like to quote that both viewpoints are valid in this context. However, I believe, if one wants, they can continue their job. Regardless of the senior age, they are capable of defining their goals of accomplishment and deciding for themselves.
