Band 8 IELTS Essay
We should take some time out from our busy schedule to do the activities that we love to do, give us enjoyment, and keep our mind free from stress. So, we all do have a certain hobby. However, these things should not be extreme for us to enjoy, because as long as we love what we do and we can afford it, then we will get the pleasure we want to.
For instance, my hobby is reading entertaining and love story based books. I really loved to read it since my childhood and I do this every weekend or whenever I am not busy at my work. This is not a very difficult thing to do because I am just sitting on a couch or in my bed while doing this, but I always get the pleasure I want.
In addition to this, these books are easily affordable, so I have started to make a collection of all the books that I have read till now. Whereas when we engage in extremely hard hobbies such as sky-diving, cycling down a cliff or feeding a shark by our hands like others wanted to do, then we need to have a lot of money to be able to do such things. These hobbies can’t be done on a routine or weekly basis.
We conclude it by saying that it is always fun to do activities of our great interest and at the same time economical. It does not need to be hard and risky like some would want it to have fun. So, I highly recommend enjoying what you like doing as long as you can afford it.
Band 7.5 IELTS Essay
Some people tend to believe that amusing hobbies must be tough and rough; this is an often debated topic. However, I partly agree that hobbies ought to be difficult to be enjoyable.
Firstly, our brain is an extraordinary tool that seeks stimulation and challenges, and engaging in hobbies that require effort and skill can provide a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction. For example, learning a hard piece of piano music or solving a complex puzzle can be fulfilling.
Secondly, while pleasant hobbies don't necessarily have to be difficult, there is something to be said for pushing oneself out of their comfort zone and learning new things through challenging activities that could lead to interesting paths that allow the person to a huge self-discovery, and what plays a good example here is someone who takes up rock climbing as a hobby and discovers a passion for outdoor adventure and exploration.
On the other hand, some people find enjoyment in simple hobbies like reading or painting that don't require a great deal of effort. It really depends on the individual and their personal preferences.
Finally, what matters most is that the hobby brings them joy and allows them to take a break from their day-to-day responsibilities, even if it's just for a few moments. Regardless of the type of hobby, it's important to find balance and make time for something that brings joy. Hobbies can be an excellent way to recharge and find a sense of fulfillment outside of work or other obligations.
In conclusion, hobbies should not be so difficult that they become overwhelming or stress-inducing. It's important to strike a balance between challenge and enjoyment in one's hobbies.
Band 7 IELTS Essay
It is sometimes debatable that people have to experience some difficulties in enjoying their hobbies. While reasons can be given to justify this, I personally believe that pastimes should be easily found enjoyable.
On the one hand, there are several reasons why hobbies need to be enjoyed with difficulty. A possible reason is that encountering obstacles to obtain desired outcomes may bring a sense of achievement to people when they enjoy their leisure pursuits. For example, when playing computer games, players are motivated by new targets and frequent rewards, which they receive when progress through the hard levels of a game. There is no doubt that play time is just as beneficial as working time from a health perspective.
On the other hand, it is my belief that activities that people are interested in should be engaged in with enjoyment. First, spending time on hobbies is considered a great form of entertainment that offers people enormous pleasure after nerve-racking hours at work. Admittedly, the working day is already long enough, and this leaves people too tired to meet new challenges coming from their interests that are supposed to be delightful. Second, hobbies that are hard to be pleasurable may prevent people from realizing their interests. Clearly, it would make it impossible for a person to enjoy a sports game if he or she is put under an undue strain when taking part in.
In conclusion, it seems to me that hobbies may need to be challenging to some extent, but I would claim that there is no need to make them difficult to enjoy.
