Topic: Some people argue that the purpose of zoos is only to entertain people. What do you think? What other purposes of zoos?

Band 6 IELTS Essay

A zoo is a location where individuals can find a wide range of unique creatures. Some people believe that the zoo's sole purpose is to amuse visitors. But from my perspective, I don't entirely concur with this viewpoint and I think that zoos also have other objectives. I will start by saying that I cannot dispute that one of zoos' primary goals is to amuse.

Zoos have a gorgeous environment that resembles a miniature world of animals and flora. In zoos, we can find a vast variety of species from various regions of the planet. Thao Cam Vien, commonly known as the Sai Gon Zoo and Botanical Garden, is a place in Ho Chi Minh City with clean air, lovely scenery, and lots of animals. Particularly endangered species. This is an excellent option for those who want to spend the weekend with friends and family. A zoo is a place where animals can be carefully cared for and protected from being slaughtered by hunters, which brings us to our second point. Animals in zoos are cared after by knowledgeable workers. Animals receive timely feedings and routine health inspections. Zoos are also a fantastic setting for scientists to study animal behaviour and discover ways to save endangered species from extinction. The ideal venue to teach kids about animals is a zoo, too. Children may be more engaged in their biology lesson, for instance, if they can observe with their own eyes and do their own experiments in the zoo. It's also a good method to make them more conscious of the need to defend animals. In conclusion, zoos are essential to society's education, scientific research, and species conservation in addition to their position as a source of fun. That is why it is important for the government to preserve and improve the standard of the zoos.

Band 6.5 IELTS Essay

A few people have suggested that the only goal of zoos is to amuse visitors. Zoos serve a variety of other uses as well, some of which are covered in the following paragraphs, thus I disagree with this viewpoint. Zoos offer stunning vistas of a miniature world of flora and animals, yet some people believe that they are merely there for entertainment.

In other words, these zoos house a variety of species, especially those that are endangered, and also serve as a great source of entertainment for people. This is particularly true in the case of Thailand's well-known Tiger Zoo and Safari World. It daily amuses a large number of tourists with its amazing wild animals. It is clear from this that families visit these zoos on weekends or during vacations to see a variety of animals. The primary purpose of zoos, above all others aside from providing entertainment, is to teach kids about nature. This is because the torchbearers may quickly pick up the information by connecting it to their biological teachings after watching the life of animals. In addition to this, the keeper of the animals usually arranges brief speeches for visitors to the zoo in an effort to make things easier for them. Children can get their questions about wild animals answered in this way, as well as learn their importance and develop respect for them. The fact that zoos can be used to protect endangered animals is still another consideration in this situation. Nowadays, it is common knowledge that many animals are slaughtered by hunters and sold for a variety of uses. But in zoos, the animals are cared for by knowledgeable professionals. Additionally, they receive regular medical checks and are fed appropriately. Additionally, when endangered species are maintained in zoos, a scientist can strive to increase their number through artificial breeding operations. Therefore, it can be said that zoos are crucial for providing entertainment for people. They also play a crucial part in educating children about animals and helping to preserve the species.

Band 7 IELTS Essay

All the different animals from around the world are housed in the zoo. Some people believe that the main purpose of having zoos in cities is to amuse the general public. However, I disagree with this idea and believe zoos serve other purposes. This essay will look at the potential benefits of zoos for educating children and assisting endangered species.

Teaching children about nature is the primary goal of bringing a variety of animals together in one place. For example, learning about things can be made much easier when kids can really see them. To put it another way, children can learn to respect all living creatures by going to zoos. And attending zoo keeper lectures which are held there and offer a wealth of information about the animals. This means that the primary objective of these zoos is undoubtedly the teaching of pupils. Zoos must comply with a crucial requirement: protecting endangered species. The fact that scientists may set up artificial breeding programmes to enhance the population of these species. While also preventing their extinction at the hands of hunters is a good illustration of this. The issue of animal extinction can be remedied as a result, and the following generation will be able to see these species. It is difficult to argue against the premise that zoos are essential to preserving biodiversity in light of the aforementioned facts. In conclusion, it can be concluded that zoos are crucial for both public education and the defence of species against poachers. In light of this, it is inaccurate to say that zoos are simply used for entertainment by society. Zoos, therefore, help to save endangered species of nature. It is therefore hoped that when people learn the genuine advantages of zoos, they would pressure the government to maintain the status quo of zoos. And increase the number of them.
