Topic: Some people argue higher taxes should be collected from industries causing higher industrial pollution, whereas others argue there are better ways to deal with it. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

Band 6.5 IELTS Essay

Industries create jobs, but they also produce a lot of pollution. As a result, some claim that the government ought to levy more taxes on businesses that produce more pollution. I don't quite concur with this viewpoint.

Higher taxes on polluting companies undoubtedly sound like a good idea, but if this policy is put in place, it will lead to greater issues in the future. Companies may first believe that they have the right to pollute as long as they are willing to pay the tax. As a result, they won't be motivated to spend money on environmentally friendly technologies. It goes without saying that within a few years, pollution levels will significantly worsen.

It is preferable to encourage businesses to reduce the pollution they create. The government may be urging them to make investments in green technologies. For instance, the government might consider offering tax benefits to companies that reduce their pollution. This will promote the usage of green technologies by more companies. The government must mandate that all businesses follow pollution restrictions. It must confirm that industries have installed facilities to handle their rubbish before allowing them to start functioning.

Increasing taxes won't force industries to realize their mistake. Instead, it will be simpler for them to continue with their risky behavior after paying a little fee. As a result, the pollution will drastically worsen.

Laws are already in place in almost all countries, but the problem is that they are rarely followed. This is particularly true in developing countries where dishonest officials collude. With entrepreneurs to award startup certificates without confirming the availability of adequate waste disposal facilities. It could also be advantageous to relocate risky businesses to outlying places.

Therefore, increasing taxes on companies that generate more pollution is unlikely to be the answer. Even worse, this course of action may make matters worse. A better choice could be to give tax credits to companies who reduce their pollution.

Band 8 IELTS Essay

Each country is working hard to address the problem of pollution, which has spread to be a global issue. In the midst of all of this, a few people have expressed the opinion that since industries are the main cause of pollution. The government should impose higher taxes on them. Many individuals, including myself, disagree with this approach since we believe there are many other effective ways to reduce the effects of pollution. This essay will explore both parties' points of view and will also provide my own assessment of them.

To begin with, there is a school of thought that holds that companies contribute significantly to pollution through the release of toxic gasses. The release of chemical waste into waterways, and the burning of coal and petroleum. They are severely harming the environment. They must therefore make amends for their wrongdoing. I concur that manufacturers have a significant impact on the development of environmental issues.

They are not the only ones to blame for the planet's deteriorating state, though. Each and every person contributes to the growth of pollution. Therefore, we should all accept responsibility for our neglect and put up great effort to improve the environment. There are many people who share my belief that we should use different strategies to reduce pollution rather than raising taxes.

To protect the ecology, the government should create strict regulations. First, afforestation needs to be encouraged. Second, it ought to be illegal to use unneeded automobiles. Last but not least, as responsible citizens. We should make a concerted effort to change our habits by utilizing renewable energy sources and minimizing the usage of private automobiles.

To summarize, I would like to say that there are better solutions than imposing taxes to address this issue. We should all put in a lot of effort to protect the environment because we are the main offenders. Additionally, the government ought to implement strict legislation and take environmental protection more seriously. We can undoubtedly address environmental degradation by implementing all of these steps.

Band 9 IELTS Essay

Although they create jobs, industries also produce a lot of pollution. As a result, some claim that the government ought to levy more taxes on businesses that produce more pollution. This viewpoint and I don't fully agree.

It certainly seems like a good idea to impose more taxes on polluting firms. But if this policy is put in place, it will lead to more issues in the future. The first assumption made by businesses is that they have the right to pollute as long as they are willing to pay the tax. They won't be motivated to spend money on environmentally friendly technologies as a result. In a few years, pollution levels will undoubtedly worsen significantly.

Encouraging businesses to lessen the pollution they produce is a preferable course of action. They might be encouraged by the government to invest in environmentally friendly technologies. For instance, the government ought to think about giving tax breaks to businesses that lower their pollution levels. This will encourage an increasing number of businesses to use green technologies. All enterprises must be required by the government to adhere to emission limits. Before enabling industries to begin operating, it must verify that they have installed facilities to handle their garbage.

Tax increases won't make industries realize their error. Instead, after paying a little fine, it will be simpler for them to carry on with their hazardous actions. As a result, it will significantly worsen the pollution.

Nearly all nations already have laws in place, but the issue is that they are rarely put into practice. This is especially true in developing nations where unscrupulous officials conspire. With businesspeople to grant beginning certificates without verifying the existence of sufficient waste disposal facilities. Moving dangerous enterprises to remote areas could also be beneficial.

In conclusion, raising taxes on businesses that produce more pollution is unlikely to be the solution. Even worse, this action might make things worse. Offering tax breaks to businesses who lower their pollution levels might be a better option.
