Given that they spend a large portion of their life in cities, city dwellers naturally have great aspirations for their living conditions. Others believe that urban areas ought to be aesthetically pleasing. But in my opinion, the main objective of urban development should be to satisfy the needs of the general population.

Because it provides residents with a location to escape the hectic city life, some individuals believe that cities should be more aesthetically pleasing. Instead of continuously being encircled by the concrete jungle, city dwellers could take a stroll through a park or visit a scenic region of the city. A tourist-friendly city also encourages the expansion of the local hospitality and tourism industries. For instance, Singapore, a garden city, welcomes millions of visitors each year from all over the world. As a result, there has been an uptick in demand for hotels and other services, which benefits locals working in associated industries.

However, in my view, communities should place a higher priority on meeting the basic needs of the inhabitants. For instance, having access to fundamental medical services is essential. If they couldn't access quick treatment and facilities, residents wouldn't be as inclined to appreciate the beauty of the city. Furthermore, focusing on functionality is much more advantageous. Given that everyone has a varied visual preference, it is exceedingly challenging to create a city that appeals to everyone. However, the fundamental needs of the populace, such as access to a quality education, healthcare, and employment, are comparable. As a result, emphasizing utility benefits a wider group of residents.

In conclusion, I firmly believe that utility should be given precedence above beauty because it is more significant as well as valuable. A city's aesthetic worth is significant because it may encourage the development of the local tourism sector and improve the quality of life in the city.

Some people believe that a city's aesthetic charms are more significant, while others think that it is preferable to focus on its functioning. Having said that, though, I think that enhancing a town's functionality is crucial for a number of compelling reasons.

On the one hand, there are those who believe that a person's spirit is directly impacted by how lovely their surroundings are. To put it another way, people spend a significant amount of time outside of their homes. Continuously viewing an unfavourable landscape will have a lasting negative impact on their spirits and behaviour. The opposite side contends that improving access to services for all residents is far more vital because it would affect people's daily lives. They cite the fact that people use public services. Such schools, hospitals, and public transportation are constantly the most convincing argument for their claim. In fact, the quality of the services they receive will affect how satisfied they are with their urban lifestyle. In addition, a comprehensive city design takes into account not only other purposes but also the safety of people everywhere. In other words, if people have faith in the operation of their community, they could feel more secure about their personal safety.

In conclusion, improving a community entails focusing on both the aesthetics and the public services. Yet I am firmly convinced that emphasis should be given to how beneficial a city's design is to all of its citizens. Because it can have a significant impact on their lives.

Band 8.5 IELTS Essay

Every city is distinct, with a certain vibe, structures, or surroundings. Some contend that a metropolis should be constructed with aesthetic considerations in mind. Others assert that practicality should be the main objective. I believe that nations should concentrate on building regions that will improve the quality of life for their population.

Planning a beautiful community could provide a number of benefits. First of all, a city will make more money by attracting more tourists and doing so by having a nicer appearance. For instance, millions of people travel to Amsterdam each year, where there are countless tulip gardens. And the majority of them just want to stroll about and take pictures of the blooms. Thus, the nation earns a lot of money as people are aware of the visual pleasure that plants can provide.

On the other hand, areas can be designed with a function in mind. By enhancing every part of a society, more people may desire to relocate there as it will make their lives easier. For instance, residents will have more free time if better public transport infrastructure is created. Because they will need less time to commute. The overall quality of life might rise as a result of this.

Personally, I think that practicality has more advantages than attraction. Living in a picture-perfect city may be soothing, but appearances are not important. If a government is considering building a new town, they should concentrate on making daily living simpler. Because, in my opinion, this is what most residents want, such as less traffic congestion and greater accessibility.

To sum up, when planning a new region, the authorities can choose to prioritise aesthetics or utility. In my view, all efforts should be focused on creating a place where each feature was planned out in accordance with its purpose.
