Topic: Some employers reward members of staff for their exceptional contribution to the company by giving them extra money. This practice can act as an incentive for some but may also have a negative impact on others. To what extent is this style of management effective? Are there better ways of encouraging employees to work hard?

Band 8 IELTS Essay

In today’s competitive world, employers have accepted new strategies to retain their employees. Many have turned to commission as a business strategy to boost productivity and maintain a positive work environment. Some people believe that this strategy will improve work quality and will work as an incentive. Others argue that rewarding employees for special contributions could indeed jeopardize working relationships. In this essay, we will examine both sides of the argument and delve deeper into the subject.

We know that additional funds are a great motivation for both employees and businesses. Companies provide higher salaries to new joiners to build faith in the company. This not only creates a good relationship but also makes the employees happy. In aspects of the company's benefits, this policy has the potential to increase sales significantly. Since the employees are happy, the work quality and quantity will be good. This in turn will provide larger revenue to the company. In some real estate companies, employees typically receive commissions of 1 percentage point of the total value of the property. This means if a property is sold at a huge price, the employee and the company, both will benefit. Furthermore, this action fosters a challenging work environment among employees, encouraging them to grow into new versions of themselves.

Extra money, on the other hand, can be a double-edged sword when it comes to ensuring the safety of a colleague's relationship. Money can pit employees against one another, resulting in workplace conflict. When it comes to determining the justice of reward, it's difficult to know what constitutes a standard or grounds for contribution. Furthermore, the appearance of a large pay gap between every employee puts management at risk. There are other ways to encourage the employees. Some prefer money but some gifts like a travel package, and home appliances, also encourage employees to work. There are companies who have provided cars and flats to their star employee of the year. These remedies, however, are not the best options because they could have both negative and positive consequences.

I think that the approach of providing money has more advantages than drawbacks. People can buy things as they wish with money. They might not be happy with the reward provided by the company. As a result, this type of incentive is becoming increasingly common in a wide range of industries.

Band 7 IELTS Essay

I agree with this comment that it is a great idea for employers to reward their employees for their outstanding contributions. Nonetheless, this management style may well harm employees. Other methods of motivating workers to perform productively and efficiently are also available.

First and foremost, this remuneration policy is effective. I completely agree that employees who devote their well-being and enthusiasm to their employers are entitled to additional compensation. They will be grateful to their bosses and feel that their contributions are meaningful because of the bonus money that can make a significant difference in their lives. As a result, they will do their best to work responsibly and efficiently. In other words, even a small sum of money can be enough to motivate employees. The bosses wanting to take advantage of this managerial style is understandable because the workers who received performance bonuses will put in more effort. Second, while the reward policy for motivating employees is generally effective, it can also be counter-productive. On the one hand, some employees who care more about bonus money than having a linkage to work are determined to leave the firm if it runs into financial difficulties. On the other hand, some workers may become discouraged from work if they are not given extra cash for failing to complete their work on time due to illness or insufficient effort. Furthermore, awarding bonuses to only a few employees may cause jealousy among coworkers. Instead, there are other methods for motivating employees at work. In addition to the remuneration policy, I recommend that employers publicly recognize their employees by throwing a party to thank people for their contributions or awarding them with titles such as "best employee," etc. They feel respected and put forth greater effort as a result of their contributions earning the bosses' recognition.

Finally, there are numerous advantages and disadvantages to the rewarding policy. However, if the chiefs make proper use of this policy, it will encourage employees to perform more effectively.

Band 6.5 IELTS Essay

The company has given some employees extra money in recognition of their outstanding performance in their specific work sector. Although this incentive may inspire some employees, it may also have a fatalistic effect on others. The proper implementation of this style as well as a better process to encourage workers will be discussed in this essay.

It may not be able to place pressure on employees to do additional work for a company nowadays. In this case, additional financial assistance can provide the staff with the motivation and energy to work longer hours. People may, for example, work extra hours in other areas after finalizing their work hours to supplement their income. However, if the company could provide this additional dollar for extra work to the workers, they will be more motivated to complete the task with greater care than previous inputs. Giving extra cash to hardworking employees can thus boost the company's success. Although rewarding good employees with more money for their additional time can be beneficial to the company at times, it can also have negative consequences. There are many more effective ways to motivate employees to strive. Occasionally, the company will set up an award program to recognize employees who have completed exceptional work. For example, the company could host an event to recognize hard workers by presenting them with a certificate or a golden jubilee award, among other things. Again, the firm can list the names of those who completed the work with extra effort on their website. The company could, for example, create an 'award blog' to announce the bestowed name to the workers once a year.

To summarize, financial assistance can be beneficial to some employees who have earned it, but it can also be hazardous to others. The idea of giving extra cash or other benefits to employees is to consider the employer's mental state and work environment. In a nutshell, when it comes to incentives, mental support should be given top priority.
