Band 8 IELTS Essay

Some feel today that, because of developments in the job market, countries should prioritise vocational training over higher education. University education, in my view, has greater importance, despite the fact that there are strong economic reasons to support this notion. Those in favour of preparation for more realistic skills point out the financial advantages. The majority of university graduates are saddled with student loans and unclear job opportunities. Training schools, by comparison, are inexpensive, quick, and immediately ease students into steady jobs.

Cooks, hotel managers, and professional technicians are among the jobs they prepare for, and they are likely to be recession-proof and long-lasting. The stresses associated with university life and its incumbent debts do not have to be tackled by someone who is deeply rooted in such a job in their early 20s. They should instead start putting aside money for a house or starting a family. Nevertheless, missing a college degree limits one's choices. The jobs available will initially pay well and be secure, but provide minimal space for development and virtually no potential to change career paths. On the other hand, a person with a university degree may start from a lower position but have a higher ceiling on potential earnings. They may also seek interests in a number of fields. Even for basic internship positions, the majority of good jobs require at least a bachelor's degree. If you don't have a bachelor's degree, you'll have to settle for manual labour or service sector jobs. The actual learning that takes place at university, particularly for those with multi-disciplinary majors encourages students to explore their career options. To conclude, I think that through practical skills, there are obvious benefits for students. The key advantages are that, aside from research, they can obtain real working experience and help them gain expertise. It is really important for the government to make their country's people creative, if practical work is one of the ways, then they should pay attention to it.

Band 7.5 IELTS Essay

With the changes in the labour market, the need for skilled professionals have become important for different industries. Nations now believe that skills and vocational training should be considered important by governments to spend their expenditure on rather than university education. People can achieve hands-on learning by performing practical activities, first and foremost. If an individual is skilled in hands-on practice rather than theoretical understanding, they can easily solve problems in a creative and timely manner.

In support of this, different studies in the USA showed that while individuals graduated with a good score, they did not perform well in the field of tasks. Employers, however, tend to employ students with hands-on experience in a specific field. So, by getting more and more flexible practical skills, it is very useful for learners. Secondly, by doing practical work, students can get a chance to collaborate with others. As a group, practical work will mostly be assigned, containing a minimum of three students. By collaborating with other learners, apart from academic skills such as speaking skills, they will probably gain more information. Furthermore, they can learn from their mistakes by sharing ideas with others, as well as learn from others' ideas. However, on the other hand, university education does hold higher value because of the knowledge that students gain in this prospect. Accordingly, with the help of education students may have greater job opportunities within the market and would not limit their options. While having practical skills would enable potential employees to secure a job with great payouts, the future might remain uncertain in terms of exploring options. However, with a university degree, even with a bachelor degree, candidates can be able to explore different job opportunities relevant to their field of interest. Effectively, while vocational education and training might be considered a plausible option for securing a job, in the long-term education is important. Hence, it is essential that nations spend their money on skills and vocational training but more on education as it holds higher value.

In the changing business market, the need for skilled professionals has become important. Nations believe that skills and vocational training should be considered important by governments to spend their money rather than university education. People can achieve skills by performing practical activities. If an individual is skilled in practical work rather than theoretical knowledge, they might be easily able to solve problems. Employers, however, tend to employ those candidates who have hands-on experience in a specific field of expertise.

Accordingly, practical skills increase the chances of getting employed. Secondly, by doing practical work, students can get a chance to collaborate with different kinds of people. Significantly, candidates would be able to share ideas and interests that would benefit individuals to learn more and gain higher knowledge.By collaborating with others it is hence, possible to gain greater exposure to the real world and learn skills which are essential. Furthermore, sharing of ideas with others, and learning new ways of performing certain tasks is possible when practical and group work is induced. However, on the other hand, university education is also a very important part of people’s lives allowing students to have thorough knowledge on different issues. University education might engage in limited practical work but the presence of theoretical knowledge holds a higher value. It is possible that candidates may not find high-end jobs with their bachelor’s degree initially similar to the ones that have vocational training. However, their future would hold greater opportunities for switching jobs and career prospects because of their education not having which might limit them. Having practical skills would enable potential employees to gain job opportunities at higher levels. On the other hand, university education would allow meeting new people, learning new ideas and concepts and securing long-term job prospects. One may find different fieldwork opportunities with proper education unlike to have more practical skills and lacking education. Hence, nations should spend their money on vocational training that would help in increasing employment but more on education as a long-term plan.
