Topic: Shopping has become a favourite pastime for many young people. Why is this the case? Should they be encouraged to spend their free time in a better way?

Band 8 IELTS Essay

The approach to shopping has become enjoyable and popular among young people who enjoy doing it regularly. Even though it's a task that must be completed, if someone does it excessively, it could cause problems. Finding the causes of this tendency will help us determine whether we need to change any current behaviour. The commercials for numerous products that are frequently displayed on billboards, social media, and television are what entice the younger generation to go shopping. The previous couple of decades have seen a significant transformation in the shopping areas. In addition to being air conditioned, they have practically everything a young person might find appealing, such as stores, movies, restaurants, and games.

Young people who have already been persuaded to purchase goods by celebrities on social media. Further, movies tend to remain longer and succumb to the need to purchase more and more when they visit such stores. In the end, they make a lot of purchases. They frequently go shopping when they receive praise from their peers for their purchases and the things frequently fall out of style.

The activity that begins as a hobby, however, may have a variety of effects on people. The likelihood of making unneeded purchases is also higher among people who frequent shopping centres. They'll get themselves into trouble financially if this becomes a habit.

If borrowing is not an option, people may turn to illicit means of making money. Additionally, a lot of garbage is produced as a result of excessive buying. As a result, the ecology suffers and valuable natural resources are used up more quickly. Therefore, it is crucial to motivate them to engage in more beneficial pursuits.

In conclusion, excessive shopping can be harmful to children, just like many other things in life. Instead of wasting their time in malls all the time, they could engage in alternative enjoyable activities.

Band 6 IELTS Essay

In today's culture, going shopping has become an integral part of being a young person. The main drivers of continuous shopping are peer pressure, social media, and new fashion trends. Shopping is important, but I also think that young people should get involved in other activities to develop their skills for the real world. To begin with, there are a plethora of causes behind the increased popularity of leisure shopping. The new age marketing and fashion industry digital ads on social media. These are seen by millions of young people and tempt them to go on shopping sprees or purchase items they didn't need in the first place, are the main culprits.

Additionally, the youth are affected by their friends who go window shopping at the mall virtually every week without any rhyme or reason. Because of this, they turn to shopping as a hobby and spend their free time there.

On the other hand, it is important to motivate the youth to engage in more useful pursuits and make judicious use of their free time. The value of time, which is measured in hours, should be understood by youth. Therefore, they should begin doing any beneficial activities that will increase their proficiency and productivity level. These can be aspects such as painting, hiking, producing sculptures, gardening, learning new languages, reading, cooking, writing, and sewing, to name a few.

In addition to these activities, young people can begin working for NGOs to hone their leadership, planning, and time management abilities, among other talents. They would undoubtedly benefit from this as they mature into responsible adults.

In conclusion, while it is undoubtedly true that young people are hooked to shopping, they may overcome this problem. Further, spend their free time in a responsible manner by engaging in projects and activities that could be beneficial to them in the long term. Because someone can make money and succeed if they spend their time effectively.

Band 7.5 IELTS Essay

Our lives now revolve around going shopping. Younger generations are more drawn to shopping than older generations are, and this is because it has been ingrained in their habits. Some claim that when people have free time, they engage in more worthwhile activities. The most valuable resource we have in this world is time, so I wholeheartedly concur with this statement. First off, because they have more money to spend, they shop for longer periods of time. Compared to earlier, there are more work options available on the market, and practically all of them are well-paying. As a result, people have more money that they may spend anyway they choose, including on shopping.

Another crucial aspect is that people often overspend because they are influenced by their friends, who shop almost weekly and for no apparent reason. According to a recent ABC poll at the shopping centre in Kurukshetra City. The majority of their sales are generated by younger people who are just starting their careers.

Time is the most important thing, in my opinion, and it cannot be turned back. Therefore, rather than spending their time shopping, we should encourage individuals to engage in constructive activities like sports or the gym. Additionally, those with technological backgrounds might use their free time to improve their abilities. For instance, technical professionals can learn artificial intelligence, which will advance their careers. Time is the most important thing, in my opinion, and it cannot be turned back. In conclusion, it is true that younger people are extremely readily drawn to shopping. But they should consider and support alternative hobbies that keep them fit and current and would benefit their careers.
