Model Answer 1

I think due to the recent surge in unemployment, many people are of the opinion that universities must focus on courses that offer more practical exposure. I believe it is pertinent to some extent as it will help individuals to grow and thereby improve their prospects of finding a job. I do not completely concur with the statement as every subject has its own relevance and contributes in its own way to the development of society. In the forthcoming sentences, I will elaborate on this point. I believe for personal development, vocational disciplines such as art, philosophy, and history are as essential as any other subject. There are numerous benefits that encircle studying these vocational subjects like philosophy and history. Philosophy I believe is an interesting subject as it piques the attention and enthusiasm of the students who study them. By acquiring and memorising information and concepts, philosophy assists individuals to become critical thinkers. Historians are another critical element of society as they hold several debates and in-depth knowledge of the evolution of our society. Historians play an important role in shaping the present and future societies. Such debates and in-depth allow students to think outside the box, think broadly, and also objectively analyse situations. Additionally, developing excellent critical thinking skills helps individuals to make better judgments. Further subjects like philosophy and history assist students to get job offers in varied fields like law, teaching, archaeological studies, and so on. Even though subjects like commerce, science, technology, and engineering play an important role. There is no denying that arts subjects also play a crucial role in the development of society. I partly blame the government for not creating many opportunities for students that have opted for arts subjects. If there had been enough opportunities students would not migrate overseas in search of better opportunities. It thereby leads to a decline in the employment rate in the country forcing people to think that subjects like arts must not be taught. To conclude, I believe vocational subjects are just as essential as any other subject out there.

Model Answer 2

Inadvertently there is a rise in tuition fees in universities. People believe that universities should focus their lectures primarily on courses that provide more practical knowledge. Especially given the universities' ever-increasing tuition fees and limited career chances. People quickly dismiss subjects such as arts as they believe that they do not hold any job opportunities. People are quick to focus on subjects like engineering, science, and technology as they entail a multitude of job opportunities. I do not, however, believe that arts subjects should not be a part of the curriculum. Every course has its own importance and it is merely not justified to dismiss subjects on the basis of the unemployment rate in the country. Subjects like philosophy and history play an important role as they help develop critical thinking skills. Subjects like philosophy and history play a paramount role in shaping society today. Students with a keen interest in arts are critical thinkers, have a broad opinion about the world around them, and make informed decisions. These skills are very much necessary in fields such as politics, law, the education sector, and so on. It is definitely a plus point for all the students studying arts as it benefits them to have lucrative careers thereby also increasing their employability. Furthermore, history and psychology are two such subjects that are an integral part of society today. The knowledge of culture and history is an essential part of any civilised country. Without an understanding of history, we would be unable to learn from the mistakes of the past. Thus, history as a subject is fundamental. To conclude, I do not concur with the fact that humanities as a subject must not be taught in universities. It is somewhat irrational to state the same.

Model Answer 3

It is true that university tuition fees are increasing at no bounds. People are of the opinion that universities that have increased their fees should not teach subjects like arts, philosophy, and history. But only offer practical degree courses which have a chance to enhance employment. In my opinion, universities should focus mainly on practical courses, but not neglect other subjects. Subjects like philosophy and history are pertinent in developing the critical and analytical thinking skills of the students. These help them solve conflicts and enhance their communication skills. They also increase the practical knowledge of the students. It increases the knowledge of the past and also how to cope with life situations. Individuals opting for any subject expect to gain knowledge and a handsome salary package. It is not just the material gains. Thorough knowledge of any subject entails solving problems in society. Studying history is important as it helps shape society. To Gain knowledge about ancient civilizations it is mandatory to study subjects like history. It can help shape societies in the future and in-depth knowledge of our own existence. Moreover, it increases the problem-solving and cognitive skills of the students. Thus, it is important to study practical courses along with other subjects. Practical Degree courses are no doubt promising, and hold a lucrative career, but other courses can offer the same benefits. Therefore we must dismiss other subjects solely based on their unemployment rate. We must instead plead with the government to create better and new opportunities every now and then for students that have opted for humanities. I strongly believe that students with humanities can be a valuable addition to society. Historians and critical thinkers can contribute as much as other students with practical degree courses. Hence, thinking that subjects like history, political science, and philosophy should not be taught in colleges is incorrect. Every subject is important and plays a vital role in building a perfect human for society. I do believe that universities should teach arts subjects, like philosophy and history, along with practical degree courses that maximise chances of employment.
